Chapter 317 Traveling to the Eastern Continent.
The Northern Continent, often called the Northern Ravages, was famous for its brutal winters and fierce beasts.
In this continent, beasts outnumbered humans by one to a hundred thousand. The Northern Ravages was the second largest continent but had the second smallest population.
From this harsh land, Yang Wei and Mu Lingxi started their journey to the Eastern Continent, also known as the Land of Supremes. This realm was full of unparalleled cultivators and ancient mysteries.
They traveled on majestic creatures called Spirit Dragons.
These dragons weren't just any common mounts one could buy from any spirit beast market.
To get one, a beast-tamer had to either find a spirit dragon egg by chance or buy one from an upper-class market, then spirit-refine the egg for ten cycles using the spiritual energy of other lower spirit beasts.
Most sects viewed spirit dragons as the nearest equivalent to a Beast King. Hatching a beast king egg required fifteen cycles of spirit refinement, making it the most spirit-refined object in the Lower Regions, second only to a Soul Heart formed when breaking into the Nascent Soul stage!
Despite this, spirit dragons were respected for their unique abilities. Because of their special status, only peak chiefs and grandmasters were allowed to use them for travel.
"Hm, these spirit dragons are quite fast.." said Yang Wei.
Mu Lingxi nodded. "Of course they are. Instead of running all the way to the Eastern Continent, it's smarter to conserve our energy by riding spirit dragons──they're one of the few creatures that possess heaven-reaching speed."
"Heaven-reaching speed?" Yang Wei raised an eyebrow.
This was the first time he had heard of such a term.
Mu Lingxi realized she hadn't taught Yang Wei much during his time in the sect, either due to various problems or her busy schedule.
A smile appeared on her face.
This was her chance to start making up for it. She didn't plan to get any closer to Yang Wei than she already was. She believed that to be a better elder sister, she needed to respect Mu Lin's relationship with Yang Wei.
It would be difficult, but not impossible──she simply needed discipline.
Suddenly, Mu Lingxi clapped her hands loudly.
"Allow me to enlighten you, my young student!"
A wide, smug grin appeared on her face.
Yang Wei rolled his eyes and looked to the side.
Mu Lingxi held up a finger and began to explain.
"After the Great Convergence, when spiritual energy came to the Lower Regions, there was a wise scholar named Zhen Ren. He was called the True Human because he was free from all worldly desires, and also known as the First Thinker.
"One fateful day, he was resting in the high peaks of the Cloud-Marked Mountains, writing his Daozang. He studied the heavens and stared at the countless stars that adorned the night sky. That was when he had his first true comprehension.
"To understand the heavens, one must first comprehend the language of light.
"He believed that light, with its swift and unerring path, was the closest one could get to the essence of speed. Through relentless study and profound enlightenment, he concluded that light was the fastest phenomenon in existence, traversing the vast expanses of the universe with an ease that no mortal foot could match. It was then he proclaimed...
"The speed of light is the measure of the heavens. To surpass it is to touch the very essence of the Dao, achieving what I shall call 'Heaven-Reaching Speed'.
After her thorough explanation, Mu Lingxi folded her arms and wore a proud smile, perhaps waiting for Yang Wei to praise her. To her surprise, Yang Wei just looked ahead at the sea of clouds and adjusted himself on his spirit dragon.
"Interesting..." he said.
But his tone and expression suggested otherwise.
Mu Lingxi gritted her teeth at his half-open eyes──it was clear he found her explanation boring. "Bastard! You should be grateful for such profound knowledge!" she yelled, though her voice was drowned out by the wind as they traveled.
Ignoring her outburst, Yang Wei asked, "So, how long until we arrive at the Eastern Continent?"
Mu Lingxi placed a hand on her chin and thought for a moment.
"Well, the distance from the Northern Ravages to the Land of Supremes is a little over twenty moons, I think. We've been traveling for about ten seconds, so we should be there in about eight or nine more seconds."
Tilting his head, Yang Wei raised an eyebrow. "Wait, twenty moons?"
"Yes. In major worlds like ours, the standard means of land measurement is a moon. So the distance from our continent to the Eastern Continent is around twenty moons, which is roughly seven million kilometers."
"Huh, now that's actually interesting."
In the martial world, there was a well-known rule of based around travel between continents.
The Law of the Heaven-Reaching Abyss.
It meant that mortals couldn't travel between continents because the distances were so vast. It would take countless years of travel by normal means, which was too much for most mortals to endure physically and spiritually.
Only cultivators with heaven-reaching speed could overcome this barrier. They could use their strong spiritual energy to bend space and time, making it possible for them to cross these immense distances in just moments.
"What?"
Yang Wei noticed Mu Lingxi was pouting, arms folded.
She gave him a side-eye, then dramatically closed her eyes and let out a loud hmph to get his attention.
"I explain all this to you, and you still have that bored expression on your face. Do you think I'm boring? I'll have you know, I'm quite interesting."
Yang Wei remained silent, casually brushing his hair.
This irritated Mu Lingxi even more.
She opened one eye to peek at him and saw him grooming himself. "Bastard!" she exclaimed.
This only made Yang Wei burst out laughing.
He enjoyed teasing her; seeing her get flustered amused him greatly.
Especially when her face turned red like red chilli pepper.
"Haha, I'm just teasing. Of course I appreciate everything you explained to me... Xixi~"
Still feeling like he was mocking her, Mu Lingxi grumbled and shot him a piercing side-eye.
"If I could throw you off that spirit dragon, I swear I would."
Her eyebrows furrowed, creasing her smooth forehead slightly.
Yang Wei raised his hands defensively, trying to calm her down.
"Hey, hey, easy now. Let's not think about crazy things."
"If anyone's crazy here, it's you. Hmph!" Mu Lingxi huffed, folding her arms again.
The spirit dragons soared through the skies like streaks of golden light.
────FWOOOOSH!
Each powerful flap of their massive wings defied natural order, creating ripples in the fabric of space they traversed!
...
Soon, they neared the Eastern Continent.
They came across the Skyreach Mountains.
These were massive peaks that reached into the heavens.
The tops were always hidden in clouds.
The spirit dragons soared effortlessly, their claws brushing against the clouds and leaving a trail of mist behind them.
The sun painted the snow-covered summits with a golden glow, making the scene look almost magical.
Moving down from the mountains, they flew over the Blue God Sea.
Its waters were crystal clear, revealing colorful coral reefs and schools of spirit fish swimming below.
The dragons descended closer to the water, their reflections shimmering on the surface. The salty breeze carried the fresh smell of the ocean. It was a peaceful moment, a short break before they continued their journey to the final destination.
"Wei! Wei! Look ahead, I can see it!"
"Oho~? It seems like we've arrived."
The Land of Supremes appeared ahead, glowing with a golden light.
Its cities were stunning, full of towering pagodas and majestic temples devoted to the Dao. Fields of spiritual herbs stretched far and wide, cared for by diligent cultivators. The air buzzed with the energy of countless practitioners striving for enlightenment──a greater breakthrough!
Yang Wei and Mu Lingxi finally landed.
Their spirit dragons touched down gracefully at the edge of an expansive forest that seemed impossibly vast and grand.

"Finally!" Mu Lingxi exclaimed with excitement.
As they dismounted, the dragons bowed respectfully before taking off into the sky once more.
Their departure was marked by a booming roar that echoed across the Eastern Continent.

In another part of the vast Great Wulong Forest...
Three people were making their way through what seemed like an endless stretch of trees.
In the right was a young man with short blonde hair and green eyes.
At the far back left was a young woman with long red hair tied in a high ponytail, trying to catch up.
Leading the group was a young woman holding an ornate, precious sword.
She had long black hair tied back, light blue eyes, and a serious expression. She wore a blue and white outfit with a noticeable blue crystal on the front of her dress. Her outfit included a short skirt that showed her fair, smooth legs, which were very attractive.
The way she walked made it clear she was in charge.
She was Huang Xiuwen, a Sword Saint!
