Chapter 1842 - Determining Life and Death
Luo Tiandu’s every move had become the center of attention.
But Xi Ning’s brow furrowed imperceptibly. She said icily, “Didn’t we agree to meet in the Elephant Province? Why have you come looking for me here instead?”
Luo Tiandu chuckled. “If I hadn’t come, how could I have found out that even the likes of Qing Xiao and Jin Zhuliu dared treat you with such disrespect?”
He then swept his gaze across Qing Xiao and his companions, his eyes shining with coldness. The three divine children were instantly solemn.
All of them knew how terrifying an existence Luo Tiandu was. He wasn’t just an unparalleled figure among Great Profound Stage cultivators. His background was incomparably startling too!
Fan Zhui stood to the sidelines in silence, but inwardly, he was unprecedentedly nervous. He couldn’t help but sweat on Su Yi’s behalf.
Luo Tiandu was domineering, tyrannical, and iron-blooded by nature. Furthermore, before setting off for the Immortal Realm, he proclaimed his intentions of destroying the Heretic Reincarnator!
Meanwhile, next to Su Yi…
Xi Ning’s voice was full of blatant distaste. “I told you, there’s no need for you to intervene in my affairs.”
Luo Tiandu grimaced. “A’Ning, there are so many people here. Can’t you give me face?”
“No,” said Xi Ning.
Luo Tiandu rubbed his nose with a self-deprecating, helpless laugh. “I just knew you’d say that. We were childhood playmates. How could I not understand you? I’m actually… not at all displeased.”
He whipped around and faced Qing Xiao and his companions. “However, they dared to bully you. I naturally cannot remain uninvolved!”
His words resounded throughout the dome of heaven.
Meanwhile, Luo Tiandu attacked decisively.
He took a step forward, and a lotus bloomed beneath his feet, holding him aloft as he charged ahead as quickly as if he were teleporting.
Boom!
His clothing rumbled around him, and his hands formed seals. An enormous lightning diagram appeared. It was fully one thousand feet across, and it depicted a bird-headed god of thunder gripping a flashing lightning bolt. Seas, moons, and stars crumbled in an endless sea of lightning.
The Turbulent World of the Thunder God!
Its mere presence through heaven and earth into disarray, and the entire stretch of ocean.
Qing Xiao looked stricken, and he fought back with all his might.
Bang!!!
Lightning ran rampant, and the entire stretch of sky split and collapsed.
One strike, and Qing Xiao was sent flying back several hundred feet. His face paled, and it hurt so badly that he almost coughed up blood.
He roared, “Luo Tiandu, you—!!!”
Boom!
A heaven-shaking thunderclap interrupted him mid-sentence, and Luo Tiandu appeared beside him and attacked, swathed in endless, dazzling lightning, as quickly as if he’d teleported.
Tyrannical, forceful, and domineering!
He had an unstoppable, valiant spirit about him!
“You madman!” Qing Xiao turned and fled. In the blink of an eye, he’d vanished.
“You ran away?” Luo Tiandu was quite surprised. “Were you always so spineless?”
As he spoke, he turned his attention toward Jin Zhuliu and Gongyang Yu.
The two divine sons exchanged glances, then turned and fled without hesitation.
Luo Tiandu sighed. “How deeply disappointing. That’s all you’ve got, but you think you can achieve divinity? How truly shameful.”
He shook his head, then returned to Xi NIng’s side. His tyrannical, terrifying aura vanished without a trace, and he said with the utmost solemnity, “A’Ning, rest assured. The next time I see them, I’ll suppress them one by one to get even on your behalf.”
Xi Ning glanced at Luo Tiandu and said, “They suffered a karmic backlash earlier. Otherwise, you couldn’t necessarily have scared them off. Despite that, you failed to prevent them from fleeing. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”
“....” Luo Tiandu fell briefly silent before laughing bitterly, “In that case… I promise to wipe away this disgrace next time I see them. Does that work?”
Xi Ning said coldly, “You’re the one who embarrassed yourself. What’re you asking me for?”
“....” Luo Tiandu fell silent.
Xi Ning, however, had had enough of him. “If there’s nothing else, leave. Wait for me in the Elephant Province.”
“Not yet,” Luo Tiandu said hurriedly. “There’s something I have to resolve first. Then I can go.”
He fixed his gaze on Su Yi.
Fan Zhui’s heart thudded in his chest. This is bad!
Xi Ning’s brow furrowed. “What do you intend to do?”
Luo Tiandu shrugged, seemingly exasperated. “A’Ning, do you really think I’ll attack him right in front of you? Relax, okay? I just want to chat with our Fellow Daoist Su.”
He took out a jug of wine and proffered it to Su Yi. “Care for a drink?”
“Thanks,” said Su Yi. “But I’ve got plenty of wine already.”
He took out and sloshed his wine gourd.
Luo Tiandu smiled, revealing his pearly white teeth. “I encountered Qing Wu on my way here. She told me what happened in the ruins of the Dragon Palace.”
“Oh,” said Su Yi. “And?”
“You helped A’Ning. That means helping me, too,” said Luo Tiandu. He took a deep swig of wine. “So, this time, at least… I won’t attack you.”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Xi Ning and Fan Zhui inwardly sighed in relief. They both knew that if Luo Tiandu insisted on attacking, neither of them would be able to stop him!
In the God Domain, others of the same generation often called him “Madman Luo.” He was unparalleled in his ferocity, and he fought without fear or reservations. He’d caused countless disasters already.
Even some gods couldn’t handle him.
The reason for this was simple. Luo Tiandu wasn’t just extraordinarily capable. He had an extraordinary background, too. No one was willing to offend this ruthless madman unless it was absolutely necessary.
But Su Yi just laughed dryly, “You make it sound like I ought to be celebrating.”
Luo Tiandu was stunned, but he could hear the blatant disregard in Su Yi’s voice. He couldn’t help but re-evaluate him.
The atmosphere silently grew tense.
A little while later, Luo Tiandu laughed. “I’ve never been the type to conceal my intentions, so I’ll speak directly. If you hadn’t helped A’Ning, there’s no way I’d have spared you.
“I’ll spare you this time, but only this time. Next time we meet, you’d best be careful. I’ll kill you without the slightest politeness!”
He spoke openly, with a smile on his face, but his attitude was extraordinarily domineering and contemptuous.
Fan Zhui’s heart quivered just listening to him.
Xi Ning’s beautiful face frosted over. “And would you like to hear my opinion?”
Luo Tiandu rubbed his nose and sighed. “A’Ning, this is the heretic who mastered the forbidden power of reincarnation. You ought to know full well how many powerful deities cannot tolerate his continued existence. I came to the Immortal Realm tasked with destroying him, and…”
Before he could finish, Xi Ning said, “My stance is simple. If you want to hurt Fellow Daoist Su, you’ll have to get through me first!”
Luo Tiandu was stunned, and it seemed he found this hard to believe. “A’Ning, I know he helped you, but if you insist on sheltering him, you’ll only bring endless trouble upon yourself, and you’ll even implicate the entire Xi Family. You absolutely cannot let your emotions get the best of you.”
His gaze was instantly solemn. “Even if you’re angry at me, I refuse to just stand back and watch as you throw yourself into the fire pit!”
He spoke with staunch conviction and incontrovertible force.
Xi Ning’s brow furrowed. This was just Luo Tiandu’s disposition. He insisted on getting his way, and he was incomparably domineering.
It was only in front of her that he reined it in a little.
This was why she’d taken the time to warn Su Yi to be on guard against Luo Tiandu.
However, she could never have anticipated that they’d encounter him as soon as they left the Dragon Palace!
Just as she expected, Luo Tiandu was completely determined to take Su Yi down, and he left no room for negotiation!
Xi Ning was just about to say something when Su Yi said, “Fellow Daoist, I said I wouldn’t make things difficult for you, so step aside and let me talk to him.”
Xi Ning was stunned, but in the end, she nodded.
Luo Tiandu was obviously surprised. “Not bad. A man ought to take responsibility for himself. If you hide behind another’s protection forever, you’ll never amount to anythi—”
Su Yi cut him off calmly, “Let’s skip the jibber-jabber. Let me make this clear first: I helped Fellow Daoist Xi Ning of my own accord, and I have no need for your gratitude.”
Luo Tiandu couldn’t help but laugh. “Whether I’m grateful or not is for me to decide. I said I wouldn’t kill you today, so I won’t go back on my word.”
As the two of them clashed verbally, a hostile atmosphere filled their surroundings.
Su Yi said casually, “But what if I want to fight?”
Fan Zhui gasped. Has Fellow Daoist Su gone insane? Luo Tiandu is far from comparable to Qing Xiao and the other divine children! When he fights, he isn’t afraid of anything at all!
Xi Ning said nothing. She just calmly took it all in. However, when she looked at Su Yi, her eyes shone with inscrutable light.
This verbal clash might not have seemed significant, but Xi Ning knew that had Su Yi chosen to make concessions and smooth things over, he’d effectively have lost to Luo Tiandu! After all, Luo Tiandu had already made his enmity and murderous intent perfectly clear. He hadn’t attacked, but that was purely out of consideration for Xi Ning. It wasn’t because he was afraid of Su Yi.
Given the circumstances, if Su Yi did nothing, he’d lose, if only in terms of momentum.
This involved his life and death. How could he casually leave his fate up to other people?
Fortunately, Su Yi hadn’t backed down, nor did he remain uninvolved. If anything, he was even more domineering than Luo Tiandu!
He’d made himself perfectly clear: he didn’t need others’ protection, nor did he need Luo Tiandu to show mercy out of consideration for Xi Ning. If they were enemies, they should just fight and be done with it.
His tone might have seemed light and airy, but in truth, he was domineering to the extreme!
Luo Tiandu noticed this too. He couldn’t help but take another look at Su Yi, as if seeing him for the first time.
“Not convinced?” Luo Tiandu laughed, his gaze suddenly sharp. A terrifying aura silently billowed from his tall, upright figure. Heaven and earth changed color, and an austere, murderous intent spread out in all directions.
“I wouldn’t say that, nor am I acting out of any personal grudge,” said Su Yi, as if he didn’t even notice Luo Tiandu's ferocity. He casually took a sip of wine, then said, “If we’re enemies, let’s just fight to the death and be done with it.”
He put away his wine, then met Luo Tiandu’s gaze. “Don’t you think?”
The surrounding currents seemed to solidify, and even the very air itself practically froze solid.
Fan Zhui felt a chill course down his spine. He’s jumping straight into a death match!? In the God Domain, they say that Luo Tiandu is a madman, but it seems to me that Fellow Daoist Su is every bit as ruthless!
Xi Ning’s beautiful face shifted. She naturally didn’t wish to see the two of them fight to the death.
But just as she was about to say something, Luo Tiandu shook his head. “No matter how much I long to kill you, I promised A’Ning I’d spare you today, so I can’t.”
A moment later, a playful grin tugged at his lips. “Of course, if you insist on fighting, I wouldn’t mind taking this opportunity to teach you a lesson.”
What do you think?
