But even then, why didn't they know about Delphina and Samuel's situation? Even if Rothschilds were most powerful family in the world, she believed her family were at least were able to get some wind of the situation.
From how Delphina conducted herselves, it was evident that their partnership was not immediate. Not knowing the details was normal but Alexis believed not knowing they knew each other was a huge disaster for their intelligence group. These people took up a huge amount of constant investment, was it really worth it since Hermes were facing decline in recent years due to financial crisis.
What were they doing all day long? Bastards!
" Do you want to gloat? Is that why you called me here?" Alexis had already given up inside. If Delphina had Samuel's support, her own plans must have already been exposed. There was nothing to hide because she knew winner had already been decided!
" What are you talking about?" Delphina witness a chance in her tone. Previously Alexis acted high and mighty in front of her despite only showing respectful attire on the surface but now she looked like a beaten dog just after seeing Samuel. Delphina didn't know he was so effective!
" You already won. There is no need to continue with this facade." Alexis went straight to the point.
" We have plenty of time to talk. Before that, I want to know who this little girl is." Delphina stood up and welcome Samuel. He who was not paying attention to them finally notice when Elise took her signature position, right behind his leg hiding herself from strangers.
" This is Elise. She is a bit shy so don't scare her."
" What? Am I that scary? Little girl, do I look scary to you?" Delphina leaned in to talk to Elise but it further accelerated Elise's hiding away from her. Delphina was shocked, from her experience she did deal with few kids in the family but she thought she was popular but reality was they were scared of her.
As the eldest princess, they were accommodating to her because their parents repeatedly warned them not to offend her.
Coupled with her strong personality, it was not hard to see that she would never lower herself to please children like making dumb faces or acting stupid these things never even came to her so she was innocent but at the same time ignorant.
" Enough. Let's sit down first we shouldn't keep our guest waiting." Samuel reminded her to back off. Delphina had no other choice but to sit down again. Samuel took Elise and picked her up placed her on his lap before sitting opposite to them.
Looking at him acting out to calm down Elise was one of the most bizzare thing both Delphina and Alexis had ever seen. Not to mention his status, who was the little girl that could make a man like him behave like this? Was she his daughter? But considering his age, it seemed questionable.
" See? Big sisters are not that scary. After talking with them, I will take you out to see your 'gift'." He patted her head after which Elise calmed down and started staring at Alexis and Delphina. She never really interacted with Elite before.
Even when she was in the Estate, Samuel family didn't really act like dignified adults like they were known for in front of her. They were like elders catering to her needs but seeing Alexis and Delphina was different thing. They were indistinguishable from normal people, with how they carry themselves.
From young age they were repeatedly taught etiquettes and from their noble temperament and elegant sitting posture, it did arise some curiosity from Elise.
" Can I order some snacks? And prepare a place where she could sit down, also some sweets and few normal drinks, mango juice is her favorite..." He started arranging few things for her. He knew it was impolite to bring Elise in this meeting but he had no other choice.
" You...aren't you going to introduce us?" Delphina asked.
" She is just someone I am taking care of for a day. Don't mind her." Just as he was saying it, he saw Elise hop down from his lap and carefully made her way around the place. He thought she would walk around but she moved closer to the two ladies.
" M-my name is Elise. I am sorry to disturb your meeting." She made a short bow and introduce herself. Samuel took her education seriously and would often remind her about these things so he was happy she didn't forgot his teachings. She was awkward but she did went through with it.
" I am Delphina and this is Alexis. Don't worry we don't mind." Delphina said with a smile. Alexis looked at her with a dissatisfied glare, even if they mind would they dare to say anything to Samuel? That's just hitting themselves in the foot!
" A-are you a princess?" They didn't have time to respond before they were hit with another question from the little girl. Delphina was beautiful but Alexis stood out more, she had light brown hair and wore beautiful green dress for the meeting, she took her appearance very seriously which was why even though it was morning, she was dressed up gorgeously.
" Are you talking to me?" Alexis was surprised to say the least. No one ever asked her such a question before, looking at Samuel who was only smiling she didn't know what to say.
" I...don't know?"
" But...I saw some picture in the book. It looks like you."
" Elise, even if she is a princess she will hide her identity. Don't you know that evil people are always trying to kidnap them?"
" Oh." Hearing Samuel she seemed to have a revelation.
" I am sorry." She didn't say anything and came back to Samuel to say a whisper a few things in his ears. He tried hard not to laugh but Alexis could tell it was something about her.
" Alright, alright. I will remind her again. Look, they have arranged few snacks for you. Why don't you go and eat first, I will take care of everything." He patted her head again. She nodded heavily after his reassurance. She hopped away but not before reminding him again with," You must tell her Sami!"
" I will." Seeing her settle in a distance where people had already arranged a small table and chair along with a assortment of snacks, he was relieved. At least she wouldn't feel bored during their talk. He retracted his gaze to look at the girls again.
