Chapter 174 Conclusion Of The Challenges
This time, Karl challenged Sigurd. Karl was quite famous among the soldiers since he was always together with Arlan. His combat prowess was only beneath that of Khalon and Winter who were both recognized as the strongest fighters under Arlan.
"Sir Karl is finally stepping in. That guy will be defeated for sure."
"The outcome is yet to be determined. The new guy already proved himself by winning against Conrad and Cedrick."
"This will be a good fight!"
Everyone watched the fighters face off with great excitement. Even Lieutenant General Rivera was interested to see the extent of Sigurd's power. He wondered if there was someone who could defeat him.
Soon, the battle started. Karl was already aware of Sigurd's impressive grappling skills so he didn't dare relax his guard. Although he was also good at grappling, he was more confident in his boxing skills.
The two fighters exchanged blows. Their punches were so quick that everyone could hardly follow their movements.
"Mr. Roa, just where did you find these men?" Lieutenant General Rivera asked in surprise.
Arlan smiled at him. "Karl was once a part of the military, but he retired early since he wanted to live a peaceful life. It's too bad for him that he ended up working for me."
Lieutenant General Rivera's face twitched when he heard Arlan's smug tone.
While they were talking, the battle between Sigurd and Karl became more intense.
Sigurd displayed his overwhelming strength and speed which made it hard for Karl to defend against his attacks.
Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!
Finally, Sigurd managed to take down Karl and made him submit with a rear naked choke.
Karl smiled bitterly as he rubbed his neck. 'There is another monster in our camp.'
Sigurd's victory over Karl made everyone admire Sigurd's performance. There wasn't even an instance where he was at a disadvantage. At this moment, the only ones who could challenge him were Winter and Khalon.
Winter didn't seem to be interested in taking up the challenge. She had already seen Sigurd's power and she knew that she was no match for him.
"Khalon, do it." Arlan suddenly said.
"Yes, boss." Khalon nodded his head and stepped forward.
The soldiers became excited when they saw him walking towards Sigurd. Everyone recognized Khalon as the strongest warrior under Arlan. Whether it was hand-to-hand combat or overall combat skills, he was the absolute best!
Khalon was like a war machine on the battlefield. Even the arrogant members of the Oorlewende Unit respected him.
"That is Sir Khalon, the strongest fighter under the boss. He once received more than ten bullet wounds after saving a senator's son from the members of the NPA, but Sir Khalon still fought against them without collapsing." Krizia said with pride.
Lieutenant General Rivera turned silent at her words. He heard of an information about a failed kidnap attempt on Senator Manuel Chavez's son. According to the report, someone protected the senator's son during the incident and it was also because of this person that the senator's son managed to survive. 'So that person is the one who saved Senator Manuel's son...'
"General, how about you help me manage my people? I'm not a good commander and I think you'll do better than me." Arlan suddenly said.
Lieutenant General Rivera frowned at his words. "What do you mean? Is this about the apocalypse thing you mentioned?"
Arlan's face turned serious as he nodded his head. "I know most of you guys are still doubting my words, but you will soon know that I am not lying. I believe the apocalypse will start in the next few days."
Lieutenant General Rivera didn't say anything. This matter was too unbelievable for him and there was no news about a zombie virus or anything. He only agreed to the relocation because Arlan promised free housing for his men.
Meanwhile, the fight between Khalon and Sigurd was becoming increasingly fierce. Both men possessed overwhelming strength. It was especially true for Khalon. Every time he punched, Sigurd would be forced to take several steps backwards.
Sigurd tried to take down Khalon, but he was too heavy and strong.
The two of them fought continuously for over ten minutes, but there was still no clear victor between them. In the end, Arlan stopped the match since he had already achieved his goal.
The soldiers welcomed Sigurd with open arms. His fierce combat style and refined martial arts skills made them admire this newcomer.
"General, I'll give you a few more days to think about it. Well, I believe you will come to me on your own accord if you find out that the zombie virus is real. You have my number so just call me any time." Arlan smiled at the general before he left the training facility with his subordinates.
Lieutenant General Rivera also left the facility after the challenges concluded.
"Jerome, what do you think of Arlan's soldiers?" The general asked his right-hand man.
Jerome frowned upon hearing this. He was also there during the challenges and he had seen what those fighters were capable of. He sighed and shook his head as he replied. "I'm afraid that there is no one among our people who could fight against any of those men. They are just on a whole different level."
"Is that so?" Lieutenant General Rivera returned to his home with Jerome. Arlan gave him a two-story mansion in Last City and it was one of the best the island city has to offer.
Inside his study room, the commanding general sat behind his desk and said. "Jerome, tell our people to carefully observe the situation in the country. If they notice anything strange, report back to me immediately."
"General, do you really believe Mr. Roa's apocalypse bullsh*t?" Jerome thought that it was ridiculous. He even believed that Arlan was high to even spout those nonsensical words.
Lieutenant General Rivera leaned on his chair and replied. "Not at all, but if he is speaking the truth, everyone in the country will be in danger..."
