Chapter 441 Bestiary Expansion
Everything up until now was just a tutorial?!? Are you kidding me, System? William could barely hold back his anger.
-It's just a joke, I didn't mean it~
William was still adjusting to his new strength and the environment, but he suddenly realized that he could better sense the System's emotions. He could clearly sense hints of mischievous delight mixed with happiness, telling him that the System truly did mean what it said as a joke.
Not only this, but William noticed that the occasional vocal cues from the System were more pronounced, no longer sounding robotic and inhumane. He wondered if his Ascension had provided some sort of hidden benefit to the System, or if it was his own improvements that changed the way he viewed the World and those around him.
Perhaps it was a bit of both.
Still aware that he was in an unknown part of the Celestial Planes and there could be danger at any moment, William made use of his Cultivation to spread out his senses, inspecting the area close to him with great caution.
At the same time, William used the Navigation Talent to search for any unusual structures underground or otherwise that could hint at large, powerful Magical Beasts. He also tried to connect with his Array Puppets connected to Riyald, but there was no luck.
It seemed he was too far away, or the Puppets had been long destroyed.
Regardless, there was nothing nearby, so William finally used his Life Sense to check for living beings. The only reason he didn't do so earlier is because Cultivators and Beasts could reverse track Detection Spells like Life Sense, so it could do more harm than good.
Hmm, still nothing. I guess it's safe he—
A dull roar could be heard in the distance, reminding him of the last image his Array Puppets sent him before the communication was cut. His head snapped in a certain direction, but he didn't see anything yet.
The roar sounded again, this time slightly louder and from 180 degrees behind him. William had 359-degree vision, so he only needed to turn slightly to view the area to his rear.
Still nothing, but William could feel a faint tremor beneath him. Sensing that this was the more reliable method of tracking his opponent, William channeled a tiny amount of Earth Mana to his feet and calmly traced the vibrations towards their origin.
Shit! It's already next to me! William channeled Wind Magic to his feet and dashed away from a flash of silver fur and a sharp outstretched claw. In the moment of its attack, the Accelerated Reflexes portion of William's fitness Talent triggered, visually slowing the movements of everything by 96 times and allowing him to take a better look at his tiny opponent.
[Bestiary] Violent Sound Mouse: +1 PP
William didn't have time to complain about the measly single Potential Point awarded from the Bestiary. Instead, he paid more attention to its description and the Magical Beast's appearance.
Exactly as the name implied, the creature he was facing was essentially just a field mouse with silver fur, and seemingly also carried the Sound Element. Despite its small frame, every step taken by the mouse created tremors through the ground, and every squeak was a violent roar that pierced one's eardrums.
-Discovered your first true Ascended Creature. The Bestiary will now be upgraded and provide a more detailed description when viewed, and Ascended creatures will now be viewable. Notifications will remain the same.
As William repeatedly sidestepped his opponent, he opened the Bestiary and selected the Violent Sound Mouse's data. It was basically the same as what he viewed before, but William noticed that the original 1350 Beasts had expanded to over seventy thousand.

As William scrolled through the information on the Violent Sound Mouse, the System even listed the various ways it uses Earth, Blood, and Life Magic to adjust its weight, repair damage to its body, and detect its opponents. It was an all-round killing machine that could act as both an assassin and brute at the same time.
These are the kinds of creatures I have to face in the Celestial Planes? William was anxious and excited at the same time. He wondered how many Points this Violent Sound Mouse would be worth.
William tested his capabilities at the lowest level first, making sure to focus on dodging and only counterattack when necessary. The Mouse rushed towards him, then channeled Earth Mana into its back legs to become incredibly dense osmium.
With a fierce kick off the ground, the Mouse instantly recalled the osmium into Earth Mana and used the force to carry its feather-weight body forward at a speed slightly faster than William's maximum speed.
As it outstretched its claws, William's Forcefield expanded and partially blocked the claw before scattering into shards of light. Using his finger to defend, the Mouse only managed to draw a tiny amount of blood before the attack was fully resisted.
The Mouse continued its leap past William and stood its ground, just as it bared its fangs and prepared for another strike, the Mouse suddenly received a sharp sensation of pain and one of its claws was severed to a quarter of its length as if it was a cat whose nails were clipped. William took advantage of the Violent Sound Mouse's confusion by creating a whip made entirely of flames and swinging it towards his target. With the assistance of the Magic Homing Talent, the whip hit its mark with no issues, creating severe burns on the Mouse's body and forcing it to retreat further.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
William didn't use the Primary Law of Fire to enhance his Spell, so the damage was minimal, but it was still more than enough for the Sound Mouse to regard William seriously.
Seeing that its opponent was stronger than it, the Violent Sound Mouse considered leaving immediately, but William wasn't going to let that happen.
He used the unique effects of the Hunter Talent to mark the creature, allowing him to track it no matter where it went, then continued whipping at the Mouse repeatedly while it tried to retreat into the grass and hide.
After a few hours and about a dozen injuries on both sides, William managed to finally kill off the Violent Sound Mouse without using any Laws or otherwise. In fact, he only used around thirty to forty percent of his true power.
-Defeated a Violent Sound Mouse: +1,000,000 PP
Only a million Potential Points? System, I thought you would give me Ascension Points for these battles! William complained inwardly. It was still a lot of Points, but William could earn twice as much daily just from the Potential Farms.
