Chapter 404: 402

Chapter 404: 402

In the azure depths of the abyss, a figure grew larger as it struggled upward.

The edges of the crevasse were narrowing, slowly, moving to the leftmost Fei She began climbing upwards, viciously hacking his ice axe into the creamy wall to find his footing; each step required his focused effort and was excruciatingly painful.

He crawled upward like a worm.

Stab, kick, shift, repeat.

Between his palms and the ice axe, there was no longer any sensation, perhaps frozen or maybe necrotic; everything became an obsession to survive.

“Perhaps I’ve already lost consciousness, and all this is just an illusion.”

Fei She thought, unable to believe that the man who had been seriously injured within the ice rift and had managed to move a hundred meters up was himself.

Finally, after the umpteenth mechanical upward swing of the axe, a sliver of blue sky appeared.

Fei She wanted to rest, but he couldn’t, for if he let go, he would die.

He propped himself up and lay there, halfway in and out, completely exhausted and unable to move.

Five minutes later, with the last burst of energy, he forced his body forward and flopped onto solid ground. He staggered to his feet, and then collapsed again.

He couldn’t walk; he could barely even get down on his knees. It was then that Fei She realized how broken his body was. As he dragged his broken ribs across the ice, he knew that unless his companions found him, he wouldn’t be able to survive. Perhaps he was bleeding internally and needed first aid.

But just as he was about to hit the ground, a hand yanked him abruptly.

Fei She opened his frosty eyes. Was this an illusion?

There were actually people.

People after the avalanche, this has to be an illusion, right?

Fei She tried to open his mouth as though to say something, but after much effort, he didn’t call for help or even say thanks.

“Got any coffee? Preferably hot.”

“Someone, come quickly!”

Upon receiving a response, Fei She completely passed out.

Yao Jun and Jerret rushed to Bi Fang’s side, and upon seeing the pitiful state of Fei She, they shuddered; this wasn’t a person, but rather a demon that had crawled out of Hell!

His clothes and the corners of his mouth were covered with frosty blood, the man’s left hand hung limply, bizarrely elongated compared to his right, and his left ankle was similarly unnaturally twisted.

Witnessing this, the two felt a sickening sensation in their teeth and couldn’t help but think, if it weren’t for Bi Fang, would they end up the same way?

After stealthily glancing into the crevasse and feeling the bite of the cold wind on their faces, Yao Jun discarded the thought; he probably wouldn’t even be able to crawl out, only wait for death below.

The viewers were dizzy with shock.

[This guy is tough]

[Is this what an avalanche victim looks like?]

[Fuck, this is too freaking scary]

[I can’t handle this, gonna have nightmares tonight]

[Master Fang, please blur the image, I’m afraid]

In the live broadcast, the wretched figure of Fei She was quickly blurred.

Bi Fang carefully laid Fei She on the ground, “Yao Jun, see if you can find any ID on him, Jerret, got any hot water?”

“Oh, yes.”

“Give him some to drink.”

Bi Fang quickly undid the man’s clothing, and upon discovering large bruises on his chest and abdomen, he inhaled sharply: “Bleeding from the mouth and nose, body swollen, muscles tense and turning dark, signs of internal bleeding!”

[Internal bleeding, he’s not going to die, is he?]

[Damn, that’s serious, isn’t it?]

[It’s not certain, it depends on the type of internal bleeding and whether there are symptoms of shock and respiratory arrest. Considering he managed to climb out of such a deep crevasse, I don’t think it’s particularly severe.]

“Jerret, prop up his feet with the backpack.”

“Oh, okay.”

Bi Fang pressed down on the man’s right hand, trying to take the Ice Axe out of his grip. Just as he pried the fingers open, a layer of skin tore off, revealing that the Ice Axe was completely frozen to the man’s palm, making viewers’ scalps tingle in horror.

[My God, that’s terrifying.]

Bi Fang took the warm water from Jerret and slowly poured it over the man’s hand. Only after the blood and ice thawed was he able to successfully remove the Ice Axe, then proceeded to check the pulse at the wrist.

After a while, Yao Jun asked anxiously, “How is it?”

Yao Jun had never witnessed someone die in front of him, and though he thought it wouldn’t be a big deal, actually facing it really made him nervous, even causing him to stutter.

Feeling the heartbeat, Bi Fang’s brow gradually relaxed, “It’s okay, the heartbeat is stable. It’s just a simple faint, not shock. Right now, we can only suspect internal bleeding, possibly due to broken ribs, but it’s not too serious. At least no major organs are injured, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to climb out of the abyss.”

“So what do we do now?”

“There’s nothing we can do,” Bi Fang shook his head. He knew survival and First Aid, but he wasn’t a doctor, couldn’t perform surgery, and even if he could, the conditions weren’t right. “The best thing to do for a patient with internal bleeding is to keep them quiet and immobile, positioning the head lower than the feet to redistribute blood flow using gravity, and then wait for rescue. Any significant movement could cause the internal injuries to worsen.”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

“The shoulder over here…” Bi Fang examined closely.

Subway, elderly, cellphone.

“It’s not just a dislocation; the shoulder blade may be fractured, and there could be many splinters. Surgery is necessary. As for the ankle here… the ankle I can handle.”

Bi Fang took off the shoes and felt the man’s ankle; it was just a dislocated ankle joint, no fractures, and he quickly repositioned it.

“For dislocations like this, if you’re not very experienced, do not attempt to manipulate it randomly. It’s best to take it to a professional hospital for a doctor to fix. Yao Jun, do you have a towel? Wrap his ankle and apply cold. When you cold compress, it’s best to use a towel as a barrier to prevent frostbite.”

Yao Jun went to search for a towel but instead pulled out an ID: “Oh, right, I found this on him.”

Bi Fang took the work ID, surprised, “Fei She? Is he Fei She?”

[Holy shit, that guide who works with Rob! The guide for the Japanese and Texan! Where are they?]

[This guy is tough.]

[Awesome, seriously awesome. Internal bleeding and a dislocated left hand, and he climbed out of the crevasse by himself, that’s just fucking incredible…]

[Is this what a pro looks like?]

[The guide is here, are the others here too? They’re not still in the crevasse, are they?]

Bi Fang took off his headlamp and shone it into the crevasse, but he didn’t find any other people until he had walked more than fifty meters and then saw an extremely familiar figure lying in the rift.

The drone slowly descended, and the audience gasped and covered their mouths.

[Is that Wessels…]

[I’m scared to look…]

[Although he was rude, ‘dust to dust, ashes to ashes, may the departed rest in peace…]

[This is literally a horror live stream.]

[How strong is this streamer’s backing to be able to broadcast something like this?]

[Nonsense, did you see the red star next to the name? Official authentication, are you kidding?]

Above the crevasse, Bi Fang directed the light into its very depths, sunlight shining on his back and the glacial blue light reflecting onto his face, flowing slowly and appearing rather blurred.

Tens of meters apart, heaven and Hell.

Ah.

After a moment of silence, Bi Fang sighed.

For the second time, someone died in front of him.
