''Why are you sleeping at this time of the day?'' Brenda asked.

''I was so busy the whole day. After sending mom and grandpa to the airport, we had to go and buy a few things because Kody didn't have a lot of things at his new apartment and then we''' she flushed and stopped talking but the ladies understood her.

''Oh, so you were busy having fun and now you are feeling sleepy?'' Chloe teased her.

''Here, drink lime water'' Kristine handed a glass of warm lime water to Jenny.

''Thanks, Kris. Did I have a dream? I thought I heard you calling someone a dirty pig outside. I was too tired to even stand up'' Jenny looked at Kris.

''Oh, you must have been dreaming. I was just with Ronald outside'' Kristine said and looked away when she saw Brenda looking at her.

''Is that it?'' Brenda asked and Kristine nodded her head.

''Yes, I've set the cake already. Let's go and celebrate the belated birthday''

Everyone stood up and went to the dining table and sat around it. Kristine lit up the candles and they started to sing birthday songs for Brenda.

''My wish is that I will continue to spend more birthdays to come with the most precious people in the world to me. Without you, my birthday would have been meaningless''

'You are a wonder person and we love you so much, Brenda'' Kristine held her hand.

''That's right. It is our luck to have met you in this life, right?'' Chloe said making Brenda chuckle.

''Here, I brought this for you'' Kristine took a box under the table and gave it to Brenda.

''What is this?'' she took it and started opening it while Jenny and Chloe placed their boxes which were also under the table on top of the table.

When Brenda opened it, she saw a beautiful light purple gown inside it, 'Kris, this dress''

''Do you remember the day we went shopping and you saw this dress? You said it would be perfect to wear it and go out on a date, so I decided to get it for you. It is my wish that, when you decide to pursue your happiness again, you will wear this out to meet a good man who will cherish you''

''Here are a pair of shoes to go with the dress'' Jenny pushed her box towards her.

''And here are a pair of accessories to go with the dress. With all of this, you will be complete and be able to walk confidently towards your own happiness. Brenda, let's not let the fear of what hasn't come to keep us from finding the happiness that we deserve'' Chloe hugged her as tears fell down Brenda's eyes.

''I don't know what to say. You girls are just the best. I sometime feel that I don't deserve you guys''

''You are so caring and wonderful; it is we who don't deserve you. You are always taking care of us and protecting us. it might be far-fetched to say this, but, let us also carry some of the burden for you. You don't have to always carry everything on your head'' Kristine stood up and they pulled her up, giving her a group hug.

''Brenda, I wish you will stop thinking or letting the past hold up and start pursuing your own happiness'' Jenny added.

''Thank you so much. This is the most wonderful birthday I've had in the last ten years''

''Then, this birthday and that birthday you celebrated with Robyn, which one is the best?'' Jenny asked and Brenda pursed her lips.

''Oh, she doesn't want to say it. which means, she likes the one she celebrated with Robyn more'' Chloe said.

''No comment''

''That says it all. Girls, we've failed to impress her even after spending $1000 dollars on birthday gifts'' Kristine said and stood up to cut the cake.

''That breaks my heart. How could you be so brutally honest? Tell us, apart from the wine and the cake, did you two do something else?'' Chloe asked and Kristine stopped cutting the cake and sat back curiously.

'You don't look at me like that. we didn't do anything else, okay? we just drunk the wine and he brought me home. You should ask Kris what she and Ronald did, because she was the one who came home late'' Brenda slyly pushed the question to Kristine.

'When did this become my question to answer? Ronald and I are pure. We only played games online and then he brought me home. Apart from kissing, we haven't gone that far yet''

'Then, the only one who went further last night and even today was Jenny'' Chloe said and they all turned to look at her.

'I am a married woman, okay? This is perfectly normal for us''

'Oh, she just made me lose my appetite for the cake. I should go and look for a man soon'' Chloe shook her head.

'What about your 'senior'?'' Brenda turned to look at her questionably.

'Oh, no. don't misunderstand us, okay? It was a coincidence that I found out he was a lecturer at the school I want to enrol in and since I haven't been to school for a while and needs to write the exams, he agreed to recommend some books to me and also help me with the topics I don't understand. That's it, there is nothing else going on between us''

'A man doesn't do favours for nothing; aye, I wonder who was the one who told Kristine this some time ago?'' Jenny pointed her hand at Chloe after saying that.

'I'm suddenly feeling hungry. Kris, cut me the cake'' Chloe said looking away.

While the girls were having fun, chatting through the night, not all was well back at the Agyeman mansion as Ronald had gone to face his grandfather to ask him to cancel the marriage between him and his so called fiance who had been sleeping with his father and making him do all sort of favours for her.

In the eyes of Ronald, Angela was the worst kind of human being he had seen all his life. She was sly and vicious and would go any length to get whatever she wanted in life. One of which was to marry him at all cost. But Ronald was also determined to not marry her at all cost.

Despite knowing the truth, his grandfather still insisted that they got married because he feared to lose the support Angela's family were giving him. His elder brother Lincoln was vying for a seat at the assembly at the Green house, which was the house of the seat of governance in D-City.

Angela's father Brew Cannon was the one who had given his seat to Lincoln to go to the polls to become an assembly man in the city. His grandfather didn't want them to lose all the benefits that the Cannons were giving them, so in short, his happiness had to be sacrificed.

But, that would have been possible before he found out that his father was fucking Angela. He had found out by mistake when his mother opened up to him one time when she was drunk from frustrations of his father's never changing promiscuity. Ronald had vowed to go against the marriage because he found it abominable and disgusting.

Now, he was sitting in front of his grandfather and they were looking at each other with stern gazes with none backing down. this was the kind of stubbornness that both of them carried within them. they knew that once their minds were made up, there was nothing to change it, but both of them didn't want to back down either.

'Call off the marriage? Impossible!!'' his grandfather panged his palm on the table which almost broke into two because of the force applied to it.

'Then, remove my name from the family register?'' Ronald didn't hesitate when he said that. he had already made up his mind and wasn't going to back away from it.

''What? How dare you challenge me this way?'' the old man was surprised. This was the first time his grandson had asked him to remove his name from the family register. First, he was the one who always threatened to remove his name from the family register but now before he could use that card, it was used against him first.

''I am not going to marry Angela. If you want to be in good terms with her family that much, why don't you marry her yourself? After all, you don't have a wife and she doesn't seem to mind that either. She is good to go as long as the man is from this family''

''You'' the old man was livid. He raised his hand to hit him and Ronald's mother, Bridget rushed inside and started pleading.

''Father, please forgive him. He is sorry, I will talk to him'' Bridget said and pulled Ronald up.
