Chapter 1274 Steamrolling
Chapter 1274 Steamrolling
Step. Step. Step.
"Ah." Continuing to walk through the corridor at a relaxed pace, Valyr eventually found himself at the center of a stone room which acted as an intersection.
Seeing that there were two paths for him to take, the young man faintly nodded with a smile as the layout of the dungeon so far more or less followed what he could remember.
Getting the feeling that the dungeon would be pretty much the same all throughout, he decided to head towards the right corridor, recalling a certain path that would allow him to reach the boss at the shortest time possible.
'Aside from that, killing the boss in less than 10 minutes is a requirement if I want to fight against the secret super-boss,' reminded Valyr to himself, slightly hastening his pace as he continued to move through the corridors.
Whoosh!
As the Cave of Beginnings was one of the first dungeons would tackle in the world of Greater Beyond, it was no surprise that its lowest difficulty pretty much eased players into the concept of dungeons as a whole.
Due to the fact that this difficulty is treated more as a tutorial rather than an actual dungeon, players would only stumble upon a few monsters along their paths at most, with the boss at the end of the dungeon being the only monster guaranteed to appear.
Of course, the super-boss was also guaranteed if one were to kill the boss at record time.
Nevertheless, due to how the number of monsters one would ultimately fight in the Cave of Beginnings' lowest difficulty was pretty much up to luck, many players eventually began to call it a bare-bones labyrinth than an actual dungeon.
Grieeegghhh!!!
Having confirmed that the layout was the same as he remembered it after crossing through three intersections in a row, Valyr eventually stumbled upon his first monster within the dungeon, immediately grinning at the sight of it.
"A goblin," said the young man, targeting [Analysis] with it to see how strong it was.
Ding!
————
[Goblin (Elite)] (Level 5)
HP: 90/90
MP: 80/80
Stats: 8 VIT, 9 STR, 8 AGI, 8 DEX, 7 INT, 7 WIS, 7 PER, 7 LUK
Remarks: …What were you expecting?
————
"Graaagghh!!!" Sensing that prey had finally trespassed into its territory, the goblin began to shriek with glee as it brandished its weapon, charging straight towards Valyr at the greatest speed it could muster.
Whoosh!
But of course, with the overwhelming difference that existed between their stats, even the goblin's fastest speed made the young man briefly think he was looking at a snail move.
"[Mana Bolt]." Not really having any reason to prolong the amount of time he spent in the dungeon, Valyr went ahead and dealt with the goblin as fast as he could, omitting the need for incantations and mana circuits as he shot out a mana bolt.
After all, there was no need for it, right?
Bang!
Unsurprisingly, before the goblin could even comprehend how its prey dodged its most ferocious attack with ease, the goblin was obliterated into nothingness by the mana bolt, the cry that it wanted to let out forever lost to time.
Ding!
Hearing the system confirm his kill, the young man soon obtained a notification that he only got a single point of experience from killing the goblin.
"Eh." Slightly shrugging his shoulders in response to his gains, he then proceeded to continue where he left off, killing all of the monsters that popped up with a single mana bolt each along the way.
…
"And with that, we're here."
Seeing that the room he was heading to seemed a bit more decorated than the other rooms he'd gone through so far, the young man already had an idea as to what he'd expect on the other side.
Gwaaaarrrggghhh!!!
To no surprise, a large monster appeared in front of his field of vision the moment he stepped foot into the room, its appearance similar to all of the goblins he'd killed so far.
However, unlike the meter tall goblins, the creature in front of him stood over three meters tall, wielding a crude metal broadsword with all its might as the muscles all over its body made themselves known.
"Alright. That confirms it." Briefly staring at the creature that continued to scream at him, Valyr faintly nodded in confirmation as he activated [Analysis] on the dungeon's boss.
"This dungeon is exactly the same as I remember it."
Ding!
————
[Ogre (Uncommon Elite)] (Level 8 | Boss)
HP: 520/520
MP: 250/250
Stats: 16 VIT, 18 STR, 16 AGI, 15 DEX, 13 INT, 13 WIS, 13 PER, 13 LUK
Remarks: Once again. What were you expecting? n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
————
"Graaahhhh!!!" Letting out a loud bellow as it expressed its rage, the ogre began to charge at Valyr with its broadsword, interpreting his decision to not move as fear towards it.
Whoosh!
But of course, just like the other goblins he'd fought in the dungeon so far, a massive difference in stats still existed between the two of them, allowing him to easily dodge the large swing the ogre did.
"How about I change it up a bit?" Slightly grinning as he ducked under the ogre's blade, Valyr looked at his foe with a chuckle as a ball of embers started to coalesce above his palm.
"[Fireball]."
Whoosh!
Aiming it directly at the ogre's head, the creature immediately felt all of the hairs on its body rise up as it tried its best to defend against it.
Yet…
Bang!
Due to the power contained within the attack, the ogre could not even form a proper defense against it, the fireball immediately engulfing its head in an orange blaze the moment it made contact.
Thud.
With that, the headless body of the ogre crashed onto the ground soon after, as well as the iron broadsword that it previously held.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
"…Not bad loot." With the boss of the dungeon finally killed, it was no surprise that the young man received a few notifications from the system not long after, informing him of the experience he gained, as well as the loot that dropped from the boss.
Chucking a smaller replica of the ogre's broadsword in his spatial bracelet for the meantime, the young man quickly denied the prompt that asked him whether or not he wanted to leave the dungeon.
After all…
There was still the super-boss that awaited him.
