Chapter 74: Being Grateful towards Him
"Noooo....." The girl had unconsciously thrown herself at him as her hands were wrapped around his head to block his lips from revealing the embarrassing truth to her sister but she forgot she was too intimately sticking to the boy.
His eyes widened, caused by Ling'er action as the girl had suffocated him from speaking anything.
Bing'er saw how closely her sister was acting with the boy as she was unaware of the fact that Ling'er was unintentionally doing it.
As the crimson-haired beauty realized what she had done, she let go of him and collected herself.
A redness spread around her face as she was embarrassed by her action, she stood up and walked away.
The boy didn't complete his sentence as this happened neither did Bing'er ask anything as she saw how her sister became bashful. She also rose to her feet and followed her sister who was going away from the warehouse.
As Ling'er stepped outside, she was greeted by the sounds of nature as birds were chirping and the fresh morning air that brushed past her cheeks.
As Ling'er traveled toward the village gate, she came across other students' temporary sheds that they had placed to live in while staying in the village.
She was taken aback by the sight that welcomed her. Students were huddled together in their own sheds. Some were grumbling about how their academy had not provided enough food for the mission, and others were complaining about the uncomfortable beds they had to sleep on.
As she approached the students, she could see the exhaustion and frustration painting on their annoyed faces.
Ling'er felt a pang of gratitude in her heart for the boy who improved their lifestyle and the comfort of their staying in the village. She was thankful for the comfy mattress and enough food as the girl realized how lucky she was until now.
She turned around and saw the boy who was casually following her beloved sister as they were coming in her direction, her heart filled with warmth as it fluttered with bliss.
Ling'er didn't let it appear on her face but Yue Yan's position in her heart just rose thinking about all of this. Their funny bickering and the boy's selfless affection towards her and her sister were causing her to slowly build a small but special spot for the boy that she had never given to any stranger before.
Yue Yan saw that the girl was gazing at him but when their eyes met Ling'er turned around and continued walking.
After going further, She saw a long-haired boy waving at her from one of the sheds to the side of the village street, "Heyyyy"
She approached his verdant living quarter and waited for him to speak.
"We have caught a game in the morning, you must be hungry. Come, I will serve you food." Wang Min invited the girl with a smiling face.
"Why are you calling her, we don't have enough food for even four of us." Meng Hu whispered to him from the side.
Ling'er noticed they were grilling a rabbit which wasn't a spirit animal and was unfortunate to get into their trap when they went nearby forest to search for their breakfast. But it seemed they were only lucky enough to get one as this was not enough for the whole team.
The size of the rabbit was only enough to fill the stomach of one person but they had to share with a team of four.
Yue Yan and Bing'er approached the crimson-haired beauty as she was standing in front of Wang Min's camp where they had set a firewood to grill the meat.
Their action of cooking food caused all the other students present to look at Wang Min's team with envy, caused by the crispy fragrance of grilled meat as they were all hungry and the Villagers didn't offer them any food.
But how would villagers offer them eating supplies when it was the students' main task to provide the food for villagers?
When the girl saw how the boy was offering her food, she was impressed but still decided to take his test.
The girl probed, "Are you inviting us all or just me?"
"Ah..." Wang Min was silent as he saw she was not alone but there were two other members who were following her.
"I don't have enough food to share with the three of you." The boy responded as he didn't want to give any to her sister or to her boyfriend.
"I don't need any food, you two sisters can have it." Yue Yan said as he wasn't allowing himself to take any favor from Meng Hu's group but he was not going to stop the Shangguan Sisters from doing the same if they wanted to eat the grilled meat.
"Okay, now only me and my sisters will join. Are you going to share it with both of us?" She asked and a mysterious glint flickered in her eyes.
"No... We are not sharing this with her monster sister. we don't have enough food." Meng Bao complained to Wang Min and her teammates in a hushed voice, thinking others wouldn't hear but Ling'er senses were enough to recognize what Yue Yan's Step sister said.
Ling'er noticed that Yue Yan had clenched his fist the moment his step sister talked badly about Bing'er and also saw the white-haired beauty standing near her as she wasn't able to hear the voice due to Meng Bao's lower voice not audible for her.
"Sorry, Ling'er But my teammates would only allow me to share with you as we don't have enough food." Wang Min apologized and turned her request down.
"It's okay," Ling'er said with a cold voice and walked away from him.
Although his intention was good towards her but Wang Min seemed to be agreeing with his teammate as he didn't stop Meng Bao from calling her sister a monster.
