Ch: 166 [Fear]
Ch: 166 [Fear]
I waited, observing Deathstorm's arm disintegrating as it came into contact with the void flames. His expression turned from anger to confusion, realizing the dire mistake he had made in an attempt to absorb the void flames. The dark energy was unlike anything he had encountered before, and now he was paying the price for his reckless curiosity.
As his arm continued to crumble, I took advantage of his momentary vulnerability. With a burst of speed, I closed the distance between us, my fist charged with the power of the void. I aimed directly for his chest, intending to deliver a devastating blow.
However, Deathstorm was not defenseless, even with his arm deteriorating. He conjured a last-ditch effort to protect himself, summoning a swirling vortex of flames to shield his body. My fist collided with the fiery barrier, causing a powerful explosion on impact. The shockwave sent both of us hurtling in opposite directions through the air.
I quickly regained control of my flight, twisting in the air to face him once more. He, too, managed to stabilize himself, but it was evident that the void flames had done significant damage to him. His once-fiery form was now flickering, struggling to maintain its stability.
"You will pay for that!" Deathstorm growled, his voice strained and filled with fury.
I smirked in response, my confidence bolstered by the effectiveness of the void flames. "Let's see you try, skeleton freak."
Our aerial battle resumed, but now the odds seemed to tip in my favor. I had discovered Deathstorm's weakness, and I knew how to exploit it. Each time my void flames made contact with him, his body weakened and decayed, unable to handle the darkness they carried.
I continued to barrage him with void-infused projectiles, forcing him to defend himself repeatedly. With every clash, Deathstorm's form deteriorated further. His power waned, and desperation crept into his eyes.
"I won't be defeated by the likes of you!" he roared, summoning one last surge of energy.
He unleashed a massive torrent of blue flames, attempting to overwhelm me with sheer force. But I was ready for him. With a combination of agility and precise control over the void flames, I skillfully navigated through the fiery onslaught, evading the brunt of the attack.
Seizing the opportunity, I maneuvered behind Deathstorm. The flames around him were now so intense that they impaired his vision. I focused my void flames into my right hand, condensing the energy into a concentrated beam.
As I aimed for the back of his head, my thoughts raced. "This has to work. One clean hit, and it's over."
With determination, I unleashed the void beam, and it shot forward like a lethal spear, aimed directly at Deathstorm's vulnerable form. The beam tore through the air, leaving a trail of darkness in its wake.
But he was not entirely blind. He sensed the impending danger and reacted just in time. With a desperate twist of his body, he partially avoided the full impact of the void beam. It grazed his shoulder, leaving a deep gash, but it wasn't a fatal blow.
"You will have to do better than that!" Deathstorm snarled, his voice now tinged with both anger and fear.
I didn't relent. With his vision impaired, I used my advantage in mobility to keep him disoriented. Darting around him, I launched a series of quick and precise attacks, aiming for the weak points in his deteriorating form. Each strike landed with precision, causing more of his body to crumble away.
Deathstorm's powers were failing him, and the once formidable villain was now on the brink of defeat. The realization seemed to fill him with a mixture of rage and disbelief.
"I am Deathstorm! I cannot be beaten!" he screamed, his voice echoing through the air. He took a glowing yellow ring out of nowhere and puts it on his finger, "Now, I will put so much fear in you that you will be begging me to kill you."
---
As Deathstorm donned the glowing yellow ring, his transformation was both awe-inspiring and chilling to behold. The flames that engulfed him now took on a sickly, malevolent hue of yellow, matching the energy emitted by the ring. The once eerie blue flames were now enhanced with the power of fear, making him an even more formidable adversary.
His skeletal frame became more pronounced, and his entire appearance exuded a sense of malevolence that sent shivers down my spine. The murky yellow flames danced with an unnatural intensity, as if they were alive, feeding off the fear they instilled in others.
The air around him seemed to grow colder, as if he were sucking the warmth and hope from his surroundings. The oppressive aura he emanated was suffocating, as though the very atmosphere was filled with terror.
As if it wasn't enough, he transformed into a towering skeletal figure, five times his previous size, like something out of a horror zombie movie. The yellow flames that enveloped him intensified, fueling his power with the essence of fear. The injuries that had been inflicted upon him earlier started to regenerate, further enhancing his formidable presence.
"You're not so cocky now, are you?" he taunted, his voice dripping with malice. "With this ring, I will unleash all the fears and nightmares you've ever known, and you will cower before me."
"Uumm... Is that all?" I asked.
Deathstorm's smug expression faltered for a moment, caught off guard by my nonchalant response. His voice grew more strained as he tried to assert his dominance. "You underestimate the power of fear. It consumes everything, even the strongest of heroes."
A faint smirk formed on my lips as I met his gaze with unwavering determination. "Fear, huh? Tell me, have you ever experienced real fear?"
Deathstorm's confident demeanor wavered, unsure of how to respond to my question. His eyes darted around, searching for a suitable answer, but his hesitation was evident.
"I-I am the embodiment of fear," he stammered, trying to regain his composure. "I have seen the depths of terror and reveled in its power. Now, you are about to feel it soon enough."
I chuckled softly, a glimmer of amusement in my eyes. "But have you truly experienced fear, Deathstorm? The kind that grips your heart, paralyzes your every move, and drives you to the edge of madness? The kind that makes you question your own existence?"
His flaming eyes narrowed, a mixture of confusion and annoyance flickering within them. "What are you babbling about? Fear is my weapon, a source of limitless power!"
"Ah! Is that so?" I used my skill. [*Mind Domination*]
As the power of [Mind Domination] took hold, Deathstorm's confident facade crumbled, replaced by genuine terror. His eyes widened in disbelief as his surroundings twisted and distorted, plunging him into a nightmarish realm of his own creation.
In this twisted realm, Deathstorm found himself surrounded by the tormented souls of those whose bodies he had fused with. Their anguished cries and pleas for release echoed through the air, intertwining with his own pained screams. He experienced their suffering firsthand, feeling their agony coursing through his very being.
Every wound they had endured, every moment of despair and hopelessness, was now etched onto Deathstorm's consciousness. The pain was unbearable, driving him to the brink of madness as he relived their torment over and over again.
"No! Make it stop! Please!" His voice trembled with genuine fear, his once-arrogant demeanor shattered. His skeletal form quivered, and the yellow flames that engulfed him flickered with uncertainty.
I stood before him, unaffected by the nightmarish realm I had subjected him to. My voice carried an air of finality as I addressed the broken villain. "To think you bastard have murdered so many innocent people and reveled in their fear. Now, it is your turn to face the consequences of your actions."
I summoned a small concentrated ball of void energy, ready to finish him, but a sudden sound of a motorcycle took my attention away.
A motorcycle in the sky!? [Guess who? Insert an image.]
