Chapter 117: What to Do if Discovered?
Chapter 117: Chapter 117: What to Do if Discovered?
Pullan saw Abigail walking out with a grave expression, following her step by step. His gaze fell on the girl, Sophia Patel, lying on the hospital bed. However, he couldn’t suppress his chatty nature. “Miss Abigail, how is she? Will she die? If she does…” It would be quite troublesome if she dies.
“She’s lost a lot of blood, but she won’t die.” Abigail glanced at the girl Pullan was pushing. She seemed to be in her twenties and was likely a blood donor brought by the Piers family. If she had arrived any later, she might not have made it.
Pullan breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that she wouldn’t die.
“We’re here.” Abigail stopped.
Pullan looked at the closed door behind him, then at the seemingly seamless wall. How were they supposed to get out? He couldn’t help but look at Abigail.
Abigail bit her lip. “Outside is the morgue. The old man in charge should be there at this hour. However, he’s not much of a threat. We might run into four gangsters. Be mentally prepared.”
“Four gangsters?” Pullan was puzzled.
Abigail didn’t want to explain. She took out her phone, which had a weak signal but could still make calls.
After thinking it over, Abigail dialed a number.
Pullan immediately asked cautiously, “Miss Abigail, who are you calling? It’s dangerous to call anyone right now.”
“The city hospital’s emergency center.”
Pullan was speechless. What kind of operation was this?
Before Pullan could ask any more questions, they heard noise coming from the lab they had just left. His face changed. “Miss Abigail!”
“Shh!” Abigail’s senses were always sharper than others’, so she had already heard it. She quickly determined that the people inside had entered through a hidden passage from outside the hospital.
She felt a sense of relief. If she had worried earlier that the gangsters hadn’t left and chosen that path, they might have run into them in the corridor.
“Fuck, where are they?” a middle-aged man inside shouted.
“How could they be missing? Hurry up and find them!”
“In such a small place, where could they be hiding? Maybe they ran off,” one of them suggested.
“Threo ordered us to check the body, and you’re saying they ran off?” The middle-aged man who spoke first sounded exasperated.
“So this is…”
“Search!”
Abigail and Pullan held their breath. After listening to the conversation inside, they quickly understood that these people were ordered to confirm if Brandon Piers was truly dead, just in case.
Pullan clenched his fists tightly. It was indeed Uncle Piers.
“Stay calm. Let’s go.” Abigail wasn’t sure if these people knew about the hidden passage, but it was certainly not a place to linger. She urged Pullan, then stepped forward to feel along the flat wall, giving it a hard push.
Suddenly, what appeared to be a solid wall had a crack appear.
Pullan snapped back to reality, knowing that everything now depended on ensuring the second young master’s safety.
He saw the wonder in the wall that Abigail had pushed open. How did she open it?
The next moment, he heard Abigail shout, “Push them out.”
“Right away,” Pullan responded, pushing the hospital beds out one by one.
Abigail let go and followed him out.
The people inside heard the noise and immediately shouted, “Hurry, that way!”
Then came the sound of rapid footsteps, followed by banging as they searched for the exit.
Pullan quickened his pace, hearing the noise.
Abigail didn’t dare to hesitate either. She quickly sealed the wall back, turning it into an intact wall again. She leaned against it and breathed a sigh of relief, then froze with Pullan.
About ten feet away, they saw a high rail holding bodies. Every drawer had been opened, and an old, short, thin man was muttering curses. “Respect the dead, respect the dead. These scoundrels, how could they be so heartless? Even the dead aren’t spared. They’re going to be cursed…”
Pullan’s movements stiffened as he looked at Abigail. What if they were discovered?
