Chapter 587 Clubs are Formed (1/2)
A few weeks passed, and the establishment of the new ministry was officially publicized through the newspaper.
The people of the empire were immediately shocked when a new ministry was suddenly added to the cabinet without any notice. There was a rumour going around in the official circle right after the Aikyotsava Festival about the establishment of a similar ministry, but seeing as how His Majesty did not make any move in this sector for almost half a year, the rumours slowly died down. However, with the sudden establishment of the ministry, a lot of people were taken aback. More importantly, they were greatly shocked by the minister who was appointed to lead the ministry. They could never have expected an Aikyotsava finalist wrestler to take the seat of a minister in the Cabinet.
"What! "
"Ministers could be selected like this? " Many people exclaimed unable to believe the news they were reading.
Obviously, there were mixed reactions to this decision taken by Vijay, but no one felt it was wrong that His Majesty directly appointed a minister instead of having him elected as usual. For one, most people in the empire do not care about who the minister is as long as the emperor is Vijay; they are okay with any decision he takes. And for two, it is actually because what Vijay had done is completely legal and according to the constitution, since if a new ministry is formed within the Cabinet, then Vijay has the right to appoint its first minister without having to go through elections.
During the penning of the constitution, Vijay included this clause so that there would be a loophole in the government, allowing the monarch to take advantage of it in case the government was slipping from his control. This is one of the reasons why even the minority of the empire who were aware of the constitutional rights and responsibilities did not voice any opinions.
The sudden establishment of the Ministry of Sports was a little surprising but was only paid attention to for a week. This is mainly because, the Ministry of Sports did not have a direct impact on the people, and according to its powers, it was not even a strong ministry to begin with. moreover, the news was released during the New Year, Ugadi. People were too busy celebrating the new year to make a big deal out of a new ministry that had nothing to do with them.
In fact, Vijay, as promised to the Jews, had released in his own words a declaration of his ambition and intention of helping the Jewish people of Bharat and Europe to rebuild a Jewish nation. This caused more buzz in society than the establishment of a new ministry.
Especially since they never expected that Jews and Romani would live such hard lives in Europe. A lot of people in society, who were born into lower castes and have now climbed up the social ladder, could empathize with the Jews and Romani. The support from them was overwhelmingly positive. This was because they still remembered their dark past, as it was only a decade ago that their treatment in the Vijayanagar Empire and the Mughal Empire was no different from that of the Jews and Romani.
It even elicited a lot of praise from the people, since overall everyone loves a monarch who is kind and compassionate as long as this kindness or compassion does not affect his own nation.
Vijay's declaration, apart from the people of the empire, caused a lot of controversy among the Europeans staying in the Bharatiya Empire, whether for business or any other purposes.
They were confused as to why an Eastern empire's emperor would meddle with the Jews, who in their consideration are Western people. But one look at the number of Jews being employed by the Bharatiya Empire, and they quickly understood that His Majesty Vijay was using the bait of a nation to make all the Jews obedient.
"What a clever plan!"
"Truly, the Jewish scum—although they are a termite in society, it is undeniable that they are very good at what they do."
"The Romani too. I say Emperor Vijay is doing a great favour to Europe by importing all these scum of society."
"Moreover, how desperate do these guys have to be to suddenly become so obedient just from a promise of an independent nation, huh?"
"Have these blasphemers become paranoid to the extent of being willing to abandon everything to build their own nation? "n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I agree that the Bharatiya Empire is a very strong empire, which no European country dares to confront, but where else could there be civilized land except in the vicinity of Europe?"
"Can't these Jewish idiots see that even with all the might of the Bharatiya Empire, they wouldn't dare hope for interests in Europe?"
"Haha, I can already foresee how the matters will end, at the end of their contract, His Majesty will randomly allocate an island in the southeast to the Jews."
"Pffff!"
"How funny, the noble Jews who wouldn't integrate with us, the god's children, living among the yellow-skinned monkeys. For some reason, I'm looking forward to this day "
"Agreed! Hahahahah!"
"Hahahah!"

3rd May 1659
Imperial capital Bengaluru, Simhasana Bhavana
A month has passed since the two pieces of news were publicized. In this span of a month, not only did Minister Maharana Pratap officially take on his duties, but the royal family also established five new companies, oddly in a category where no one had ever seen.
"Is everything ready?" Vijay asked the five people in front of him.
The five people standing in the main hall of the palace in front of Vijay were the people Bhaskaracharya had found to run the organizations he had founded. Like he requested, all of the managers were selected from people who had both sports and business experience:
Harbhajan Singh, manager of Bharatiya Premier League; Bhagwan Peshwa, manager of Unity Football Bharat; Bhargav Shetty, manager of Pro Rugby League; Tejas Kulkarni, manager of Pro Kabaddi League; and finally, Jashwant Reddy, manager of Ultimate Kho Kho. All of them not only had some business experience but also played in various district, state, and national-level sports events.
The five of them were pretty nervous since being offered the job as the directors of these organizations came pretty unexpectedly, but the pay was good, and there was huge room for development, so no one rejected the offer. And more importantly, who would reject an offer given by His Majesty? However, they had not prepared themselves to face His Majesty one-on-one, which left them really rattled. Fortunately, everyone had good mental fortitude, so they recovered fairly quickly.
"Everything has been set up, Your Majesty. We are just waiting for your orders," Harbhajan Singh said, as the rest of the people promptly agreed with his words.
Vijay was really satisfied that things were moving so quickly. "Let me see the conditions from each of your organizations to form a club."
Without hesitation, all five of them quickly took out a piece of paper and handed it over to Vijay.
Vijay read the requirements from each sport at a time and was pretty satisfied with the result for the most part, But there was one thing that made him frown.
"Everything is pretty much like I expected, but when I say ad placements in players' kits are decided by the organization, I did not mean that the kit be filled with ad placements," Vijay stared at all five of them from the corner of his eye.
Everyone was immediately terrified. They looked at each other in blank dismay because when they saw that the organization had such power, the only thing they considered was to generate more benefits for the organization, the team, and the players. Was there anything else they were supposed to do? They asked themselves, but unfortunately, they could not figure it out no matter how much they thought.
Vijay knew that the people in this era hadn't experienced the bombardment of advertisements everywhere like in the 21st century, so he let out a deep breath and proceeded to explain.
"I gave you such power so that the teams don't misuse their right to advertisements to fill up the player kit with nothing but advertisements. Although it would make a lot of money for the sports industry as a whole, you have to understand that these sports organizations you are running are a business, and because it is a business, it sells a product. The product in our current situation is the entertainment brought by the sports matches."
"Now, if the players playing in these sports matches are covered with advertisements all over their bodies, how will the audience be interested in such matches?"
"Don't always put the cart before the horse. Viewership is our first priority, and everything else comes next."
Vijay gave back the requirements sheet.
"Change the regulations. The pair of shirt and pants can only have a single sponsor, and the slots available for sponsors to add their logo cannot be more than four. The size shouldn't be more than the number on the jersey. There can be only one shoe sponsor, headgear sponsor, and so on. You understand my point?"
All five of them nodded their heads with realization. "We will get it done, Your Majesty," They said in unison.
Vijay finally suggested as he left. "Right after making the final modifications, you can officially post the recruitment advertisement in the newspaper."
The modifications were simple enough. They were quickly made, and the next day they were put in the newspaper.
