Son, “Mom” Will Back You

Chapter 45

There was dead silence in the dressing room.

Ten seconds had passed and the man with a point mouth and cheeks like monkeys standing in the middle of the room finally recovered from his shock. He eyes widened assistant director looked at the delicate female body standing outside the door in disbelief.

The man pointed at himself and said, "You… Are you yelling at me?"

The girl outside the room took a step forward. "Was that you talking just now?"

"Yea…yeah."

"Oh." The girl's voice turned cold. "Then you tell me if I was yelling at the coward who only dares to defame someone behind their back?"

"You---"

"I have already recorded what you have just said and I can just send over an original copy to Mr. Luo Xiu's agent right now – Would you like to have a conversation with the Legal Department of Ding Ke Media and found out the sentencing for libel and defamation?"

"……"

The man's face switched between blue and white. "Just who do you think you are, standing up for Luo Xiu like that? Are you not worry that I'll drag you down with me?!"

"Oh, mi." Gu Nian gave him an expressionless look. "I am so scared."

The man, "……"

Gu Nian didn't want to bother talking with him anymore. She waved her cellphone at him and he could see that the screen was on an email page. Her fingers hovered over the green send button.

Gu Nian turned back at him and threatened him expressionlessly. "Promise that you will never defame Luo Xiu again and get out in ten seconds or less – or we will see whether it is you who is ending me or Ding Ke Media that's ending you."

There was no inflection in her voice at all as she said that as though she truly was not worried at all. That sent a shiver down the man's spine.

Without any response from the man, Gu Nian nodded, "10, 8, 6—"

"You said 10 earlier!"

"Oh, that's right. I don't like odd numbers. 6, 4—"

"…Fine! I'll leave. You happy?!" The man finally caved under the pressure and starting rushing toward the door as he spieled mean words.

"Wait."

Pointy mouth and monkey cheek man was almost at the door when he stopped, turned, and gave Gu Nian an evil stare. "Now what?"

"Promise." The girl turned around. There were barely any emotions in her deer-like eyes and her voice languid. "That you will never defame Mr. Luo Xiu again."

"You--- do you know this Luo Xiu?! You'd put him over your own safety? You are not worried at all that I will hurt you?!"

Gu Nian didn't bother responding to him. Shaking her cellphone again, she said, "4, 2—"

"Fine! I promise! I won't say another word about him!" The man almost crushed his own teeth and, giving Gu Nian one more look that could kill, he turned around and dashed out.

Looking at the entrance that was now emptied, Gu Nian paused for a couple seconds before she slowly put away her cellphone, picked up the cleaning tools, and started cleaning up the debris from the mug that she had shattered.

There was someone else inside of the dressing room. It was a field service man who walked inside the dressing room with the other man earlier. He seemed to have been shocked by how calmly Gu Nian seemed when she was cleaning up her own mess.

"You, are you really not worried that Cui Wei would retaliate?"

Gu Nian swept a couple of times and looked up. "Are you talking to me?"

"Yeah."

"Who's Cui Wei?" asked Gu Nian. "Oh, the guy who was here earlier?"

"Uh huh…"

"No."

"And why not?"

"From my experience, the dogs that bark don't bite."

The girl's lips curved. Her look was too deceiving and the man couldn't tell immediately whether she was smiling or being sarcastic.

But he figured it out shortly.

Her head lowered, she put the last piece of rubbish into the trash bin. At that very moment, she had her back to the light with half of her face was in a shadow and it was difficult to make out her look.

"Only the timid ones with inferiority complex would hide in a dark corner and attack others with vicious words…. Because they couldn't reach that height so they'd want to pull the others down, smear, and destroy them."

The emotions behind the words were heavy; it didn't sound like she was talking about someone else. Unfortunately, the man failed to notice that and thought Gu Nian was still upset for Luo Xiu.

After hesitated for a little bit, he said in a forced light-hearted tone, "It looks like Screenwriter Gu had also became a fan of Luo Xiu?"

Gu Nian turned around, surprised. "Eh? You know who I am?"

The man nodded.

Gu Nian, "Oh, that's not good."
