General Ryou watched as his nephew entered the surveillance room. "If I hadn’t upgraded the room with the newest material you and your girlfriend made, it wouldn’t last long under the fire you make."

"He’s the one who provoked me first."

"What did you see?" General Ryou pointed at the black crystal that Kyle was holding.

Kyle looked at the locked room in front of him as Petra was suffering due to the heat, yet he was not killed immediately. It was pure torture for him and will definitely last for a period of time as long as Kyle didn’t make him burned to death immediately.

"The alternate future that could happen should this woman didn’t have this memory." Kyle chuckled.

General Ryou didn’t understand, but he could guess that it might be related to Kyle’s development. After all, he himself was worried whether Kyle would turn very reckless in the future because of his indifference and many others back then.

After watching for a while, all the traces of Petra inside the room was wiped out, leaving only unrecognizable ashes on the ground.

Kyle turned to look at General Ryou. "I’ll trouble you to clean this up."

"It’s no trouble at all." General Ryou waved his hand and called some of the soldiers to clean up this interrogation room.

Kyle nodded and walked out, still holding onto the black crystal in his hand. He felt that the black crystal was indeed the most mysterious one aside from that black transparent ones. One affected the body and the other affected the mind.

However, he didn’t want to care so much about this.

No matter how much these gems and crystals affected them, there would always be a limit. Perhaps someday, there will be a way for them to truly master this newfound ability they had and figured out a way to keep it exist through other ways.

But that would require a long time to study and all.

Kyle was not that worried and didn’t want to care that much. What he cared the most was the time he could spend with his woman.

Returning to the research institute, he took out his phone and see the message from Kate, saying that she was in the training room in the third floor with Jake and Lotte.

Jake and Lotte would spar from time to time since they felt that they would turn rusty after spending too much time together. Naturally, the training room became the perfect place for them to spend their time.

So, Kyle directly went down the stairs.

Bang!

Opening the training room’s door, he saw his woman was sitting at the side leisurely while Jake and Lotte were attacking each other with their elemental ability. From the way it looked like, they barely used half of their real capabilities, though.

"You’re finally here!" Kate waved her hand. "Have you finished with your business?"

"Yes, I have." Kyle sat beside Kate and she leaned in to rest her head on his shoulder.

This had become Kate’s habit because when she was a cat, she always snuggled closer to him. For some reason, she liked his smell so much.

*cough*

Kate also didn’t ask that much about Kyle’s business because she knew that he had a lot of things to do. Aside from the materials research, he also had responsibility in the military and Kate was not interested in knowing too much.

Anyway, she only need to know that he’ll be safe and will come back soon.

That was enough.

"There are some giant mutated animals coming not long ago, so I deal with them swiftly." Kate yawned lightly. "I think that these giant mutated animals are so stupid to come here when they know that I’m here."

Her reverse healing ability had almost reached rank 9. Even Kate herself was perplexed by her fast progress, but it was also because of this that no other giant mutated animals would dare to get close to City E normally.

If they were too close, they would end up dead just from a thought from Kate.

Thus, they tactfully moved away.

Only some truly stupid giant mutated animals would dare to get close to City just to be killed. Thus, it could be said that City E is one of the safest cities in this nation.

"I know. You did great." Kyle leaned in and kissed Kate’s forehead.

Kate giggled.

Kyle looked at the black crystal in his hand.

At the last moment before Lotus’ death, Kate appeared near Lotus. She was unconscious, but this black crystal still recorded everything vividly. The image Kate crouched down and held the back of Lotus’ head while murmuring something.

He couldn’t catch her words.

But he had the feeling that the reason why Lotus could ’return back in time’ might have been related to Kate in this so called future.

"How’s your other abilities?"

"Space and transformation? I had reached rank 8 and 7 respectively but the transformation felt a bit weird," Kate thought out loud. "It feels as if I’m connected to the past but at the same time not really."

"Connected to the past?"

"Your past cat."

Kyle: "…"

He looked at Kate helplessly.

Kate stuck out her tongue but didn’t explain anything more. When she turned into human, she found out that this transformation ability seemed to be something that she possessed, which was why she had caused the cat to fuse into her body.

However, that transformation ability was weak and eventually gave her the body of a cat instead of human as she should be.

And after reaching rank 7, Kate started to be able to see the past memory of the cat back then. She couldn’t control the cat’s movement, but she could see it from time to time if she were to focus.

It was a bit strange for her.

But she just felt that the little cat was somewhat pitiful to be smaller than the others who were born at the same time and then tossed to the uncaring Kyle.
