Chapter 336 Wrong Assumptions
"Now is a good time to use those dark flames of yours," Virgilius said.
"No way. Now that they know about me, it will be easier for them to deal with those," Jake said. "I had many other means to deal with them. Besides, only an idiot would try to fight, only punching with straights
That comparison sucked, but Just like Jake said, several enemies jumped at him and tried to attack, but his sword cut them down before they could get too close. The confusion in the middle of their army made more enemies aware of Jake, and the blood rain around him only made them more curious to see what was happening.
The skill Silent Sword had leveled up.
The skill Silent Sword had leveled up.
The skill Silent Sword had leveled up.
…
Although the skill wasn't supposed to make his attacks stronger, the skill was leveling up. So, Jake assumed that the efficiency was improving, and that would let him use other techniques alongside it. He had to wait for a while, and the fact that he was getting surrounded by many likes of corpses bothered him, but Jake kept going until he felt skilled enough to pull that off.
Jake not only managed to use Silent Sword alongside Mana Blade, but he also managed to fire several in a row in a single instant during the moment he took a 360 turn… a circle of mana expanded in the area and then cut in half dozens of enemies.
"That was… did I just control the energy of the Mana Blade?" Jake thought, confused.
"It seems the logic behind Silent Sword can be applied in more ways than expected," Virgilius said. "While you focused solely on strength, your control also applied to the energy spent. If possible, I would like to try some variations of that, so I would advise you to return now."
"Yeah, that isn't going to happen," Jake said. "What I start, I finish."
"In that case, I would advise you to use that combination over and over again to offer me more data and to deal with the enemies faster," Virgilius said.
"It is all about what you want, huh…" Jake said.
Unless it was necessary, using the same move again and again just to make things easy was against Jake's policy. However, he knew that what he had pulled off was the basics of that technique that his previous self used… control his mana, absorb the mana from the environment and from the enemy's attacks, before unleashing every right back at them while saying: Ex… Caliba!
When the next wave of enemies approached, Jake focused his senses to the limits and then prepared the same skill. As if they had been waiting for that, all of them jumped at the last moment. That complicated things for Jake a little bit, but just a little. They all got within his range in the last moment, some of them even managed to punch Jake, but ultimately, they were cut in half by the mana circle fired by Jake's sword.
You obtained 250 coins.
You obtained 250 coins.
You obtained 250 coins.

"You could have just jumped and then used the combination in the same way as before," Virgilius said.
"I need to use my legs, remember?" Jake said. "My stance while using Silent Sword still is a bit messed up. Now that I know the skill, I can probably activate it without being too conscious of it, but I need to use that skill at all times and just by deciding by myself instead of relying on the system."
After what he learned from Virgilius, Jake was feeling more cautious than ever. From all intentions and purposes, he might lose his powers if the system stop working, and while such a thing might happen, it can't take his knowledge… some of his skills could never be taken away if he knows their secrets.
Regardless, those enemies didn't look that smart, so they kept charging at Jake like mad dogs. Due to the confusion on the enemy's lines, the defending side managed to pull out an offensive against them, and that made the dark hounds being attacked on two fronts. They only relied upon raw power and strength, and thanks to that, they didn't offer much resistance by being pincered like that… after just two hours, their army was annihilated, and Jake returned to the spaceship.
"Congratulations on your flawless victory, commander," Virgilius said.
"Spare me of that shit. You made me fight cannon fodder," Jake said. "While coins can be useful, I grow a lot more fighting enemies tougher than me and able to wipe out entire armies."
"You do realize that the more you fight, the less you will face enemies like that, do you?" Virgilius asked.
"I guess it is only natural… fighting them left, and right will also make me easier to find by them," Jake rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I suppose I need to get used to fighting cannon fodder until I master the techniques on your database."
"That will take a long while," Virgilius said. "Putting such matters aside, it would be better if you try some variations of that combination. The power to control mana like that will be valuable for someone like you that strain your brain by using those dark flames."
If Virgilius noticed that, then Jake truly had to find a better alternative. The sin skills were useful, but when some of them were used too often, they became a double-edged sword. In any case, Jake began to combine both skills, and he tried to control the mana by increasing the amount in his sword. However, the energy always dissipated.
"I guess it won't be that easy…" Jake said.
"Considering your age and power, I suspected that you were quite talented, but I guess I was wrong," Virgilius said. "We will have to follow the slow approach and take time with this."
"Shut up," Jake said.
