Chapter 697 Empathy
Villain Ch 697. Empathy
She had intended to tease him further, but upon reflecting on his past struggles, she decided to show him some empathy instead. She had heard about Allen's breakup two years ago, which had left him devastated and nearly destroyed his life. Additionally, she was aware of the complexities of his family dynamics, which added another layer of difficulty to his life.
Despite not fully understanding Allen's experiences, Emma recognized the pain he had endured and chose to approach the situation with sensitivity. She knew that sometimes, a kind word or a gesture of understanding could go a long way in offering comfort to someone who was struggling.
Similarly, Jordan felt a sense of kinship with his son as he reflected on his own past mistakes. He remembered the pain and regret he had felt after making a foolish decision that had led to Allen's existence. Jordan knew that Allen had borne the brunt of the consequences, even though he was not to blame for the circumstances of his birth.
As a father, Jordan felt a deep sense of responsibility for Allen's well-being, and he understood the importance of offering support and understanding during difficult times. He knew that pushing Allen further on the topic would only serve to exacerbate his discomfort, so he chose to exercise restraint and give Allen the space he needed to process his emotions.
In that moment, both Emma and Jordan recognized the importance of empathy and compassion in supporting Allen through his struggles. They understood that sometimes, the greatest gift they could offer him was simply to be there for him, without judgment or expectation.
Allen glanced at the two of them alternately, trying to read their expressions. He could sense a shift in the atmosphere, a subtle change in their demeanor that hinted at sympathy and understanding. It wasn't something he was used to, but he appreciated their efforts to show compassion.
'Right, they're sorry for me,' he thought to himself, his intuition guiding his interpretation of their thoughts. He figured that Emma and Jordan must have assumed he was a solitary figure in the past, which was partly true, and perhaps that's why he had gravitated towards writing harem stories—it was a way to explore his fantasies and desires in a safe, fictional space.
Deciding to lighten the mood, Allen cleared his throat. "Can we start eating now? I'm hungry." He flashed them a smile, hoping to ease any lingering tension in the air. He was eager to move past the awkwardness and focus on enjoying the meal together.
"Okay, let's start eating," Jordan agreed, sensing Allen's attempt to shift the conversation. He welcomed the opportunity to move on from the heavy topics and simply enjoy their time together as a family.
With that, they all began to dig into the breakfast spread laid out before them, they each began to serve themselves, passing plates and sharing portions with one another. The clinking of utensils and the sound of conversation filled the air as they savored each bite, enjoying the flavors and the company alike.
"Oh, right. Azura sent me a message last night after we finished dinner. She said she might visit us in the near future," Emma said, her voice slightly muffled by a mouthful of pancakes.
Allen's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "So I have to hide if she comes?" he asked incredulously, his fork hovering over his plate.
Jordan, who had been quietly enjoying his breakfast, chimed in. "No, let her be," he replied, swallowing his food. "As I said, sooner or later she will find out that Allen is part of the Goldborne family. What she may not know yet is that Allen is the devil emperor," he added, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Allen's eyes widened at the revelation. "So it won't be a problem if she knows I'm staying here with you guys?" he clarified, seeking reassurance.
Jordan nodded, taking a sip of his coffee. "Exactly," he confirmed, his tone relaxed. "Besides, it might be good for her to see the real you, not just the devil emperor persona."
"Okay," Allen replied, a hint of relief evident in his voice. The idea of Azura visiting seemed less daunting now that he hoped it wouldn't cause any problems.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"What about Allen's relationship with those women?" Emma asked curiously, her brow furrowing with intrigue.
Allen glanced at Emma, taking a moment to process her question. "You mean Shea, Vivian, and the others?" he clarified, turning to face her directly.
Emma nodded eagerly. "Yes, exactly," she confirmed, her interest piqued.
Before Allen could respond, Jordan interjected with a note of confusion in his voice. "Just tell her. This has nothing to do with Azura, right?" he suggested, gesturing towards Emma.
Emma cringed slightly, realizing the awkwardness of the situation. "Yeah, I guess," she replied briefly, unable to articulate the complex feelings she had about Azura's growing interest in Allen.
They continued eating their breakfast in silence, the clinking of cutlery against plates punctuating the quiet atmosphere. Allen glanced at Emma and Jordan, noticing the subtle tension that lingered between them. He took another bite of his food, hoping to break the awkward silence.
"Um... Since I have nothing to do, can I take the motorcycle to go around after this?" Allen asked, his voice a bit hesitant as he glanced at Jordan. It felt a bit odd to ask for permission like this, but he figured it was the polite thing to do.
Jordan chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "Sure, it's yours. You don't need to ask my permission," he replied with a smile.
"Thank you," Allen said, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He'd been itching to take the motorcycle out for a spin ever since he laid eyes on it. Now that he had the green light, his mind raced with ideas of where to go and what to do with it.
Once they finished up breakfast, Allen's excitement grew. He already had a few destinations in mind, places where he could let loose and feel the rush of the wind against his face. With a quick nod to Jordan and Emma, Allen excused himself from the table and made his way to his room.
