Chapter 208 All-Star High School Players vs. Shenyang Sharks (2)
Zeke, known as Lightning for his incredible speed, was one of the most respected players in the Shenyang Sharks.
He didn't have the best reputation among the public due to his cocky personality for being able to play in the Olympics at such a young age. However, his skills were well-respected.
His agility and quickness earned him a spot in the 2020 Olympics, where he represented the country with pride.
He had a knack for zipping past defenders, leaving them in his dust.
However, as he sprinted down the court, he found himself facing an unexpected obstacle.
A towering figure blocked his path, and Zeke's eyes widened in surprise.
The huge wall in front of him was none other than Kai.
Before Zeke could react, Kai swiped the ball from his hands with a swift movement.
In an instant, Kai was off, dribbling the ball down the court.
Calvin, as if reading Kai's mind, sprinted toward the basket and positioned himself under the rim.
The crowd held its breath as Kai approached the middle.
With a powerful leap, Kai sent the ball sailing through the air.
Calvin caught it mid-jump and executed a thunderous slam dunk, the backboard rattling from the impact.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The gym erupted in cheers and shouts of excitement.
The Longyu Dragons turned to Fenhua, Calvin's best friend and duo counterpart.
There was a frown on Fenhua's face, and it seemed like he was watching Calvin cheat on him right in front of his very eyes.
Calvin landed gracefully and turned to Kai, a broad smile spreading across his face.
He extended his hand, and Kai met it with a high-five.
On the sidelines, Lina watched the scene with pursed lips.
Her heart raced as she observed Kai's impressive play.
"He's really...different," she muttered, feeling pride swell in her heart.
Beside Lina, Zeren noticed her reaction and felt a pang in his chest. Lina looked completely captivated as her gaze fixed on Kai.
Zeren's breath got caught in his throat as he realized the depth of her admiration. He turned away, staring intently at the court to mask his feelings.
The game continued, and Zeke, determined to recover from his earlier setback, decided to change his strategy.
The combination of Calvin and Kai was too strong to challenge head-on, so he targeted the team's weaker players instead.
It wasn't a decision he made lightly, as it went against his pride.
However, losing against a literal team of high schoolers hurt his pride even more.
Zeke focused his efforts on Luke, who appeared to be the clumsiest player on the team.
With a series of rapid moves, Zeke outmaneuvered Luke, leaving him scrambling to keep up.
Zeke drove to the basket and scored a smooth layup, making the crowd roar in approval.
Luke fell to the floor, his expression one of frustration and embarrassment as he shook his head.
Meanwhile, Kai watched him with a smirk.
It seemed like he didn't even have to do anything for karma to hit Luke!
Kai and Calvin quickly regrouped, determined not to let Zeke's play affect their momentum.
The game resumed, and Calvin took control of the ball.
He dribbled and surveyed the court. He knew that the other players also wanted to receive his pass, but somehow, he only trusted Kai to be able to keep up with his plays.
With that, he quickly passed to Kai, who initiated a fast break.
Kai moved with a fluidity that let their opponents scramble to catch up.
Zeke was further in the court, so even though he was able to catch up to him, it was still a second too late.
Kai drove to the basket, drawing defenders toward him.
At the last moment, he passed the ball to Luke, who was wide open on the perimeter.
Luke caught the pass, took a deep breath, and launched a three-pointer.
The ball sailed through the air and swished through the net with perfect precision.
6-2.
After the amazing duo play, Calvin and Kai seemed to have an unspoken understanding on the court, acknowledging each other as the best players in the game.
Their chemistry was undeniable, and they began to curate a series of dynamic duo plays that left the audience in awe.
Even the workers in the facility stopped what they were doing for a moment to watch the game. They couldn't believe that such young players were giving the Shenyang Sharks such a hard time.
Kai dribbled the ball down the court, eyes scanning for Calvin. He spotted him cutting towards the basket, and without a moment's hesitation, Kai lobbed the ball high. Calvin leaped into the air, catching the ball mid-flight and slamming it through the hoop once more.
8-2.
On the other side, the Shenyang Sharks were in disbelief. They were a team of seasoned professionals, yet they found themselves struggling against high school players.
Your journey continues with empire
"Does this make sense?"
"Seriously, what are they feeding kids these days?"
"GMOs."
"A lot of chicken nuggets, I guess."
"Is chicken nuggets really the answer?"
Hong, the acting referee of the game, shook his head in frustration.
"Kids these days are really scary," he muttered, marveling at the skill and coordination of Calvin and Kai.
Zeke, determined not to let his team be outshined, took charge, using his speed to disrupt Calvin and Kai's rhythm. He managed to steal the ball from Calvin, driving down the court for a quick layup.
12-8.
Kai was quick to respond, grabbing the ball. He sprinted down the court with Calvin by his side. Zeke tried to intercept, but Kai faked a pass, sending one of the players stumbling. In a fluid motion, Kai passed the ball to Calvin, who finished with a clean layup. The crowd went wild, their cheers echoing through the gym.
"The high school basketball league is not a piece of cake!" Dafu exclaimed.
Fenhua clicked his tongue and shook his head. "I thought you agreed with Zeke a while ago."
Dafu scratched the back of his head.
"That was a moment of weakness!" he sheepishly said.
Despite their best efforts, the Sharks found it difficult to contain the duo. Calvin and Kai's synergy was definitely too strong.
At one point, Kai grabbed a defensive rebound and quickly passed to Calvin, who was already sprinting toward the basket. Calvin caught the ball in stride, took two quick steps, and leaped for a spectacular alley-oop.
Lina watched from the sidelines, her heart continuing to swell with pride. She glanced at Zeren, who was also watching intently, his eyes filled with admiration and a hint of longing. Lina felt a pang of empathy, understanding his feelings but also feeling a sense of pride in her team's performance.
Then, Lina turned to Yuze, who had a look of concentration.
"I can't believe we have such a scary player in our team," he muttered.
What do you think?
