Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 209 Globular Victories

Yuze couldn't quite comprehend how Kai had improved so fast.

His eyes met with Lina's, and the two of them seemed to be in silent agreement.

"His potential," Lina said, breaking their gaze and turning her attention to the court once more.

There were roughly around three minutes left until the end of the game, and the high school players were winning by six points.

The professional team could still catch up, but Kai's and Calvin's chemistr was too strong to begin with.

The fresh players of the Shenyang Sharks couldn't even come close to them.

"It's the opposite of what I first thought," Yuze said, concluding Lina's thought.

Lina nodded. "What are we going to do with this information?"

Yuze pursed his lips, also unsure of the answer.

"I don't know for now," Yuze said, leaning against his seat and crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"However, let's first enjoy the game and be grateful that a player like him is within our midst," he continued.

Lina smirked before nudging Yuze's shoulder. "I see that you've developed a soft spot for him, huh? A few months ago, you didn't even want to accept him into the team."

Yuze clicked his tongue.

"Let's keep this between us," he said, suddenly feeling shy.

"I don't want that kid to grow a big ego," he muttered.

Kai had a reason to grow a big ego, though.

The Shenyang Sharks were currently being obliterated by his duo plays with Calvin.

It had been a while since he engaged in a real game, and who would have thought that it would be with a professional team?

He didn't know whether it was because he had Calvin by his side or if the new players of the Shenyang Sharks weren't any good, but he found the game surprisingly easy.

"Maybe it's also me," he muttered, feeling proud of himself.

"Two minutes!" Zeke exclaimed with a deep frown. "Get your act together," he said in a scolding tone, glaring at his teammates.

Meanwhile, Calvin and Kai turned to each other, nodding as if they had cultivated teamwork that would otherwise only work in those who have played together for years.

This time, Calvin was the one directing the ball.

He looked at the top of the rim before throwing it high in the air.

He didn't even have to look around to know that Kai would be able to catch it.

Much to his pleasure, Kai jumped up high.

It was his very first dunk of the night, and Calvin's eyebrows raised in surprise.

He had a hunch that Kai had great athleticism, but his jump was even higher than his.

Zeke also couldn't help but stop and stare.

These kinds of jumps were only evident in the professional league—why is a literal high school player doing it with so much ease?

Zeke clicked his tongue as Kai dunked the ball, making the backboard shake.

"Was I wrong all along?" he muttered, wondering if he had underestimated young players too much.

Meanwhile, Luke's head was about to explode from the heat and frustration he was feeling.

He was supposed to be the best player on their team, but he hasn't even scored one point!

He had enough, so he marched to his teammates with crossed arms.

"You guys are hogging the ball," he said to Calvin and Kai, making the two surprised.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Pass to us," Luke grumbled before going back to his place.

Calvin and Kai shared knowing looks.

There was only less than a minute left before the end of the game, and with an eight-point gap, the two felt like they were secured.

With that, June decided to pass it to Luke as per his request.

Luke smirked and dribbled the ball with fancy movements. He made it seem like he was great at handling the ball, like Zeke. However, it seemed like he did more than he bargained as the ball slipped away from his hands and landed at Zeke's feet.

Zeke, with his lightning-fast speed, didn't waste time and went to the three-point line for a point.

He makes it, yet a smile doesn't appear on his face.

Only twenty seconds were left, so he knew in his mind that it would be nearly impossible to keep up with a five-point gap. He also didn't want to show the high school players that he was desperate, so Zeke decided to play it off as if he wasn't doing his best.

When, in fact, he was.

Luke, on the other hand, clicked his tongue and turned to Kai with a deep glare.

Kai raised his hands in surrender.

"What did I do?" he muttered.

"You should have caught the ball," Luke said, making Kai even more amused.

"Next time, you guys should support me," he continued. "The two of you only support each other."

Once again, Calvin and Kai glanced at each other with looks of amusement.

Then, the two of them nodded.

Wanting to give Luke a chance, Calvin gave the ball to him and decided to support him on possibly the very last play of the game.

Kai also stood behind them, wanting to give him a chance to overcome his embarrassment.

One of the new players had a plan to steal the ball away from him, so Kai quickly screened him out.

Then, Luke dribbled the ball and settled around a meter away from the ring for an overhead shot.

However, the Shenyang Sharks weren't going to let Luke have the last basket.

With that, Kai fought tooth and nail so they would not touch Luke.

In the process, Kai tripped over one of the guys' feet, making the audience stand in surprise.

Kai felt like the world slowed down as he fell to the ground.

He searched for anyone...or anything he could hold onto.

However, the first thing he grabbed didn't give him that much security, still making him land on the hard floor.

Just then, the buzzer sounded, and silence was heard in the entire court.

Kai sighed.

"Did he make it?" he muttered.

With that, he raised his head to see what the situation was.

However, instead of a situation, he saw something, the organ which people use to sit on something.

An ass.

It was his first time seeing it in real life....

...and it was none other than Luke's.
