Chapter 395 Against Claude ( Part 1 )
'He wants to make sure I'm not going to cause trouble?' Shane mused as he realized that their entry to their shelter had probably alarmed Lord Han Zhuo. He could easily guess that they have the ability to see how dangerous or powerful the people who are entering their shelter.
It was quite an interesting ability, and he felt that his base would also need it. After all, even though he had a title effect that increased the loyalty points of the people inside his shelter, it was still a slow process. If there were dangerous people entering his base, he must have a way of finding that out before it was too late.
'Knight Claude, huh…'
Shane gently nodded, understanding the Knight's concern.
"Don't worry too much. I just plan to stay here for a few days and then leave. My main goal is to visit Sector 20."
Claude's eyes narrowed slightly.
He didn't expect that Shane would just reveal his plans. However, it might not be true, so he still wanted to test this person.
"Is that so… In any case, I would like to broaden my horizons. Can I request a duel? If you win, I'll give you a map that could surely help you in your journey. If I win, how about staying here for a few weeks and helping us defend this shelter?"
'Few weeks? Are they also going to be attacked by the Zombie Wave?' Shane thought to himself.
Shane considered the offer for a moment. A map could be incredibly useful, and he respected Claude's straightforward approach.
"A map? Okay… Let's fight!" Shane agreed without hesitation. He was confident in winning after all. With his current set of Stat, as long as he wasn't attacked by a tank, RPG, or missiles, he felt that he would be able to survive with his strength and high-grade items, including his Exosuit.
Claude nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
"Follow me. We'll find a suitable place for our duel."
Soon, they visited a nearby training ground. The area was spacious, with a dirt floor and various training equipment scattered around.
A few onlookers gathered, curious about the impending duel.
On the other hand, Shane's attention was drawn to several cages at the side of a nearby building.
Inside these cages, he saw low-tier zombies pacing restlessly within the confines. But some others, perhaps mid-tier Zombies, had chains binding them and couldn't move at all. They could only growl as they watched the people passing by.
Shane was taken aback by the sight and turned to Claude. "What's with the caged zombies?" He asked.
He recalled that Ivory Gear Shelter was also capturing Zombies, and it appears that this was a common thing.
'Should I also have Raze and the others capture Zombies in our shelter?' Shane mused as he shook his head to erase his random thoughts.
Claude glanced at the cages and then back at Shane. "They're just captured for experiments. You probably know that our shelter specializes in making explosives. We need those zombies to test our weapons."
Shane nodded, understanding the necessity. After all, they probably wanted to make specialized explosives that only affect zombies or certain types of them.
It must be an interesting project if they have explosives that are specialized to deal with Spitter Zombies to avoid their acid explosion in their deaths.
Anyway, the zombies in the cages were a mix of different types: some were Runner Zombies who had their limbs twitching with pent-up energy. The others were Walker Zombies with their slow, methodical movements… There were also a few Jumper Zombies with eyes that darted around as if ready to spring at any moment.
Then, according to Cloud, the ones bound heavily by chains were actually Screamer Zombies… It seemed that the people here were also afraid of making noise, so they were completely restricted from making any sound. Finally, there were also four Survivor Zombies bound like Screamer Zombies.
The sight was unsettling, but Shane knew it was necessary to fight for their survival. If they were able to develop specialized weapons, then
"Alright," Shane said, turning his focus back to the duel. "So what are the rules?"
"Just one weapon," Claude replied. "You can take out a gun or whatever you like, but I'll use my sword." His confidence was evident, bolstered by his mastery of Aura, which he believed would protect him from any firearm.
He believed that even if Shane pulled out a rifle or any high-caliber weapon, he would be able to defend himself.
'Ohhh…'
Shane appreciated the man's confidence…
After some thought, he decided to find a weapon in his inventory that was not an Epic or Legendary-grade weapon yet.
'Let's see…'Nôv(el)B\\jnn
After some consideration, Shane took out a Rare Grade Crushbone Club he had looted from a Crusher Zombie. It was with Crusher Gloves, Crushclaw Crossbow, Pulverizer Axe, Crushbone Blade, and others. It was basically from a set item.
The club was heavy and intimidating, perfect for the duel ahead. After all, he doesn't have plans of killing Claude. Using a sharp blade might severely injure the man.
On the other hand, the club could just crush some muscles or bones, and it wouldn't be life-threatening if immediately treated. Furthermore, with his Healing Token, he would be able to heal the man if it came to that point. He just needs to avoid crushing the man's head.
"So you're a club user…" Claude nodded in approval.
He then took some distance away from Shane before he spoke again. "Let's begin."
Shane also nodded as the duel finally commenced.
Claude then released his Aura to protect his body and infuse it into his sword, making it sharper and heavier.
'Ohh… So we can use Aura…' Shane thought as he was planning to literally just use his club and strength to fight against Claude.
Upon realizing that it was allowed, Shane decided to use his Aura Mastery…
Soon, his Aura of Protection expanded and also covered his club.
