Chapter 984 The morning after the big day
[Eon's POV: ]
"I… am… sleepy…"
Tia was drowsy even though she got to sleep for a few hours, so some others couldn't help but be irritated at her.
"Finish your work and you can go to-, yawn~."
Everyone was sleepy and everyone wanted to go and sleep even though it was a bright morning already.
Last night, the festival… It was fun. And everyone had their fun. But…
"It does not make any sense that… we have to… clean things up ourselves…"
"Right? Shouldn't the people here do that?"
It wasn't a rule, but this time around, since this was an unofficial event that was celebrated on such a large scale in the academy, they didn't have enough people to clean things up.
The classes were going to start from tomorrow so they needed to take care of all the things, all the trash, all the decorations and stuff as quickly as possible.
And, the people who were supposed to do that weren't going to be enough for that so… though not all the students, but at least those who had a stall set up, or those who wanted to help willingly were all helping out with the clean up in the garden.
"Don't you two get tired?" Quin had her question, and she wasn't the only one that had such a question.
"Hmmm?"
When she asked that question with her distinct tone, everyone around us, including the sleepy fairy, opened their eyes wide and looked up at us.
"Of course we get tired as well. What do you think we are? A batch of monsters that can go on fine without sleep?"
That was Rein's answer, and just from the tone of that answer, the rest of them could see just how irritated she was right now.
'She is sleepy, both of us are, it's just that we are used to not sleeping for too long or getting the necessary rest when we have more time.'
It was the same for Carla and Alf, even captain Alpha, a few other adventurers among us, as well as those who were used to the fields, forests, and long sleepless nights.
"As you can see, we are tired as well. But we sadly know how to function even with near to no sleep for a little longer than people usually can."
My days in the great forest, in a place filled with life threatening dangers, had already conditioned me for three to four days of sleepless nights.
And then after learning from my master, after understanding myself, my body, and my being I was also able to learn how to function under dire physical conditions.
"You might now know, but we are unimaginably tired right now."
"That's right. We are tired so get your acts together and finish your work! I don't want to be stuck here until the afternoon!"
She was not being loud, but her simple tone hinted at just how much she was going through as well.
'They can't see it on our faces since it's usually a difficult thing in the first place.'
But we are tired.
It's a fact.
"Ah… I see. I was asking because you two had been working since the event ended, helping everyone with everything even though you didn't have to so…"
Quin was concerned about us, we knew that.
"It's alright. Just… go back to work."
That's why Rein just continued using her magic to help the others take down the decorations.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Hiccup! What's up with her-, hiccup!"
"That's your fourth cup. You're not supposed to drink that much."
Liz was working since the start of the event to the bitter end of it and then she had to clean up with us so, she started caffeinating herself.
Which was fine, nothing too bad about it since it was still early morning, but now it was getting out of hand.
She looked as if she had been drinking the whole like, like a mess, with her eyes red, and her face flushed.
"Give me something better than. This coffee isn't helping anymore."
"You need rest, not something better. Just go back to your dorm and sleep. We will be alright without you anyway."
She didn't have to be here in the first place.
We can take care of things without her and I really didn't want to knock her down to put down.
'She wanted to help since she had made a good profit thanks to this entire event and since all of us were stuck with this thing. But, she wasn't really helping us that much.'
She had her magic and she had her skills, but what we needed right now wasn't her healing abilities, or my good and rejuvenating food.
"All of you children need sleep. You all should go back and let us finish the rest.
You have already helped a lot."
The other workers who were helping us were concerned about us, as well as the teachers who were also helping out with the cleaning and repairing of a few things.
"It's alright, Sir. We will be alright. This much is nothing, really."
It was a lie, he could tell, but he just smiled and went on with his work.
There were many things that we still needed to do, and we would be able to finish as quickly as we wanted only if they worked more than what we were doing.
And they were professionals in their fields so they knew what to do better than us who did what we were asked to.
"Haaa…"
Still, we were tired. And that much was a fact.
"It was fun though."
"Hmm…"
"Will all of the festivals be like this one?"
"What do you mean by 'all' haha. There will only be three in the three years that we will be here."
Cleaning up was one thing, but chatting while doing something had a unique fun to it completely.
"Three years isn't a small time, you know? We haven't been here more than a few months and I already feel like I've known all of you for decades now."
"You're saying that because you're a tiny fairy, Tia. Time flows faster for you."
"Hey!"
"Hey hey, Ezra. Let's not be like that, alright? Everyone is tired."
"Hahaha."
Ezra and Prince Alph, even his siblings and the other people from our group were also here. Almost all of them were here aside from the ones who had gone to escort the seniors and their parents back to the docs.
Most of us were spread across the garden, Zoe and Carla and others were on the other side helping the teachers with the big arches that were built as decorations.
'Ah, and apparently, three of our class projects, the masterpieces of Class L, Class Class J, and Class K were selected to be displayed at the grand house of masterpieces located on a certain island present between the three continents: a tourist attraction for some of the world's richest people.'
Our island replica as well as Zoe's tree puzzle could have also been selected as an entry but the headmaster refused, saying he would display it in the central gallery present on this very island.
'Much like the grand house of the masterpieces, the grand gallery of the island of magic's wealth was also one of the biggest attractions for the tourists from all over the world, but unlike the grand house, the one present here is open for practically anyone.'
They could see those things for free, so, headmaster decided to keep some of the best works of the students and their teachers on the land that they were created instead of giving it away as a decoration.
All the other masterpieces were going to go to honourable places as well, like the great museums of the West, the personal collection of Northern Queen, or the Blue Heavenly archives of the east.
People from all around the world were going to see these masterpieces, and when they saw them, they were also going to see the names of the creatures who had contributed to the creation of these masterpieces, which included every single student of the respective class who had made it.
'To create a masterpiece in a small span of three weeks was not something simple, even with a workforce like the ones the class teachers had this time.'
All twelve of them were part of a grand collection now, so their value was off the charts already. And, all the students who had helped in the creation of these pieces were going to receive a fair contribution in case they are ever sold to a certain individual.
And some of them were certainly going to get sold, that much was certain due to the immense value these masterpieces now possess.
Still…
People are going to see these things, these achievements, and connect them to all twelve of them, and all the creators of these twelve masterpieces.
"We should be done in about an hour or so, right?"
"Hmm… looks like it."
We were going to sleep as soon as we reached the dorms, and it will be a good sleep of at least a few good hours.
We had not slept for the last three days already so, the sleep is catching up to us now.
It wasn't healthy to stay up for so long and do many strenuous activities.
"Should we have lunch together before we go then, everyone?"
"Hmmm?"
"Yesss!"
"Yes, absolutely!"
"That would be amazing~!"
I didn't even say that I would be the one cooking that lunch but, they all looked happy. And there were all these people who had worked hard as well, even the teachers here.
"Alright then…"
It wasn't a bad idea to have a barbecue on this fine, messy morning anyway.
